For planning an event with Palmer house, Iriana Formato is your woman. The epitome of a professional, I wish every vendor/ venue was half as good to work with as she has been. Couldn't recommend highly enough!

Slow check in too few staff. Hard to find anything their glasses were in the cupboard where the safe was? No bottle opener with a mini bar to open beer. We paid a top price for average accommodation will definitively not be back. This place is letting the Hilton chain down. Not recommended

This is one of our favorite hotels in Chicago. The lobby and ballroom are both breathtaking, and they have a golden age vibe to them. The rooms were pretty updated considering how old the hotel is. There are some shops on the ground level and an excellent restaurant.

Room was beautiful and clean. The hotel staff was lovely and polite. We spent a night here and the receptionist gave us an upgraded view of the river which was beautiful! The rooftop terrace area also had stunning views. The location was perfect, we walked all up and down the mag mile and then walked to millennium station. While we were spending the day walking the bell boy held onto our bags for us after we checked out of the hotel. Great experience, wonderful staff, amazing views, convenient location!

This is a great, very beautiful hotel. The style behind every area is just unmatched, and the atmosphere is very inviting. The rooms are well furnished, but was no mini fridge in my room, nor microwave. The only major complaint I have with the room itself is that the outlets are LOOSE. I had one viable outlet in my room for charging everything I brought. Every other outlet, including the ones in the lamps, were so loose the plugs would just fall right out. I recommend bringing a power strip, so you can make sure you have enough functional outlets for all your gadgets.

The Palmer House was a very nice hotel. Right on State Street and just 5-6 blocks from Macy's and not too much further to the Willis Tower; all easily within walking distance. The hotel is older so the room wasn't too big but it was nicely furnished. It has had a recent multi-million dollar renovation so everything works great. The lobby was actually full of people enjoying themselves, a rare sight these days. We stayed on the executive level, all the benefits more than make up for the price difference. I would stay here again if business or personal travel brought me to Chicago.

Palmer House is beautiful! In the middle of the loop, its location is difficult to beat. We loved being able to walk across the street to watch Hamilton (AMAZING) and millennium Park. It's right next to the metro station, so super easy to get to from the airport ($5) or to other areas of town. Highly recommend

The Palmer House is a top notch institution. They're a throwback to when service mattered and everything didn't come in a prepackaged box. I love it. Love it, love it, love it. It can be pricey given the time of year and the goings on around Chicago. However, if it's in your budget, stay here, you'll love it.

There was a long line at check-in. But it was a busy Chicago Saturday afternoon. It moved much quicker then I imagined. The person who checked me in was friendly and informative. The room was just the right size. Breakfast stuff was friendly as well. Thanks for a great stay.

The Palmer House is a lovely hotel. The room I was in was small. There's no coffee in the room, but coffee is easily acquired in the hotel. The location is great and the staff is lovely. The only turnoff was housekeeping knocking on the door at 8am. Remember to put your do not disturb tag on the door. We expected to leave early but were not expecting housekeeping to come around quite that early.

You must stop into this monument of Chicago art and design. The details on the entire establishment are something that have to be seen in person, from the $1M peacock metal doors to the finest details of the candelabra.
You can get the original brownie here, which is good. The creme brulee is also tasty. The only knock against this place, and maybe it should be against the Lockwood Restaurant, is the service was brash and not welcoming at all. You must stop in here and see this building.

Somehow ended up at the Palmer House while in town for business and what a good time this place was. The style of the building, interior design, the lights, the bar, everything was fun about this place. Be careful though, the minibar is weighted and on a timer. If you pick up something and look at it, you better put it back quickly! On the other hand if you had a long day of travel and want a quick shot and a beer, the room has you covered.

Nothing stopped Potter Palmer in his quest to build the best hotel in Chicago, but time has worn on this grand old dame.

The lobby and public spaces of this hotel are spectacular, but all that grandeur is ruined as the lobby is abused as a mediocre happy-hour bar for the middle of-the-road khaki-clad army of consultants filling the hotel. The rooms at this landmark are well worn, minimally appointed, and sized for a bygone era.

Overall you’ll find the contrast of pleasant on first impression but falling short on delivery to be consistent across experience.

You won’t need a wake up call because the housekeeping staff will be yelling in the hall. And you won’t be distracted by the Internet b/c despite paying $20 a day it won’t work for anything more than rudimentary access.

Charming place in Chicago. My group and I arrived pretty late on a Saturday night, slightly after midnight. The lady at the check-in counter was very kind and accommodating. Our room was clean, spacious and had some comfy beds. We watched some old Fresh Prince of Bel Air episodes on the television - passed out an hour later. No complaints!

The hotel itself seemed very luxurious and well run, it was clean, and accommodating to those who were meeting with fellow colleagues or peers. Was on the executive level and wow was it nice. The room had a cool style to it. It felt updated but had some of the old stuff. Good mix. The breakfast was awesome. Love the free food and drinks. Will definitely be coming back

One cannot say it's a bad hotel, but I had better expectations for a hotel that was 300$ a night. The location is great, but the room and the conference rooms are small and dated. Staff could also be better. While I understand the premium price I feel the core product was not premium, only the location was.

You can immediately tell the Palmer House is a beautiful and historic hotel when you walk through the doors. The location is the reason I picked this hotel, great spot in the city. The staff was quick and courteous. The elevators were confusing at first since there were so many, each going to different floors, but wasn't a problem. It felt like a maze navigating to my room since the halls have so many turns. I stayed in a small room. The TV seemed tiny and the windows didn't have a great view. The bathroom was fine, except the shower had some rust on it and the shower drain didn't keep up with the flow of water. The toilet was strong, unlike other hotels I've stayed in. All in all, I would stay there again.
