My wife and I booked the Pictured Rock Package, it is 3 Nights, food inclusive trip. We had an itinerary for the three days that Paddling Michigan put together for us. Like many people, we ran into high winds and a few trips were canceled on the day. We worked with Gail via the phone and she refunded us FULLY for the dinner cruise and switched our Paddling trip to accommodate for time constraints, and REFUNDED us the difference.
I firmly believe that if you take responsibility for your own trip and be a decent level headed person, you will have a great trip or get refunds if weather prevents you from your activity.
Our guide "Drew" was fantastic! We did the three hour paddle which is great for first time kayakers or for a fairly low key activity. The waters of Lake Superior can change in a moment though, so don't be caught off guard! Overall, a lot of fun and a breathtaking view.
My best friend and I had planned a big birthday trip over Labor Day weekend. I live in Houston Texas and she lives right outside Detroit so we don't get to see each other often. We decided we would take a little road trip and go kayaking among other things. Then Harvey hit, the devastation of my town is truly unfathomable and we are still recovering. As we pick up the pieces and try to return our community to function I have been overwhelmed by the kindness and generosity within our community and from other states. If you are one of those people, thank you.
I called all our rentals and hotels and excursions to cancel as all airlines were shut down and even if they weren't the roads were impassable. Everyone was wonderful and understanding except Uncle Ducky's. I called multiple times Tuesday and Wednesday and finally received a call back on Wednesday that was rather brief. I explained my situation and asked if they would be willing to give me a full refund as we could use the money right now and we were in a fairly extreme and unusual situation. The lady was fairly rude and then informed me I should have called 7 days in advance. I told her I had no plans of canceling originally and had I known we would be wiped out by a hurricane I would have but my city is under water and we could really use the money. Since my friend lives in Detroit she said she didn't think we could get a refund. I guess she thought my friend should make the 4 hour drive to go kayak alone (???). I kindly asked her again and she said she would talk to her general manager and hangs up. No word on she'd get back in touch, nothing. So I call again Thursday to check on the status, no answer. Friday we are issued a refund for $80.93. According to their cancellation policy even if you are heartless we called 5 days in advance (finally spoke 4 days in advance) so we should have received 75% minus a $25 admin fee (what?). We paid $211.86 so the minimum we should have received is $133.90.
Honestly, we would have returned to kayak there when I was able to make the next trip we wont now. They are losing money by treating their customers this way. Please don't support this company this is not what small businesses should look like we don't need these kind of people here. I attached screenshots for my proof, don't let yourself be scammed.
Very well put together and we'll organized. We took the all day paddle and hike tour and I couldn't possibly be happier with it. It was very well organized and both tour guides were very knowledgeable and gave us a lot of information along the way. The hike was beautiful. We hiked past lone pine tree and a beautiful waterfall. I will definitely recommend this trip to anyone this is the best way to view pictured rocks.
My husband and I booked the Taste of the Rocks tour. Our guide was knowledgeable and laid back. It was a beautiful day with flat water. Even though this should have been perfect, it was not. Uncle Ducky's is a money-making machine. We spent just as much time waiting around as we did on the water. We had to sign in at their office, then drove to another location to park and wait to load the bus. Once we got to the beach, we had to wait for more people from another bus to arrive. We only spent two hours on the water. Much of it was floating, waiting for the crowds ahead of us. We did not do much paddling, and we did not cover much ground. When the tour was over, we had to wait for the bus to come back. I would not recommend this company for a tour of the Pictured Rocks.
Looks so beautiful! Bucket list material.
Taste of the rocks was awesome. New experience on the Pictured Rocks. Cool guides and good paddling goods. Friendly staff.
Kayaked "Taste of the Rocks" second week in May. Gorgeous views, water was a little choppy so we couldn't go too close to the rocks. Wore drysuits. Fun, knowledgeable guide. We would definitely do it again!!: the longer one next time so we can go into the caves.
We were scheduled to go out August 6, 2016 but the waves were too high & rough. We were contacted by email and phone and we were offered a raincheck or refund. We asked for the refund and they asked for 30 days, but we had our refund in 14! Very professional and we can't wait to try again when Lake Superior cooperates. I'm glad they had our safety in mind.
All of these reviews are posted by little prissy babies. Awesome tour, awesome weather, and all together beautiful atmosphere. Andy was my guide and he was AWESOME. Can't wait to come back next year!
