Nice clean cabin right on snowmobile trail! Great Job patty!!!!
We stayed in the Hemlock and we loved our little cabin. So cute and cozy. I loved some of the thoughtful touches that I wouldn't have though of, like the weather station, canoe, or measuring cups and a whisk. Loved that there were extra blankets and pillows in the dresser, and the bed was really comfortable. The cabin was also really clean. If I had to have one complaint, I would ask for a comfier couch. All in all, it was a great place to stay and we would highly recommend it.
Great location next to Autrain River. Cottage had everything we needed. Stayed at the Spruce cottage, a rustic but comfortable log cabin cottage. Would stay again.
Perfect spot for accessing Munising, Marquette, lots of falls, and the beautiful Au Train River. The cabin was modernized and very comfortable. Perfect for what we needed.
I'm so glad I found this place! I'd been wanting take a vacation for a while and really wanted to get away from traffic, cell phones, and other such nonsense that can drive you mad in normal work weeks. I have 2 mutts and needed a dog friendly place that wasn't going to cost a ton to bring them. The cabin was super clean, had a comfortable bed, well stocked, inviting, and had Wifi and a tv with a Roku player. The area isn't really "secluded" as there are other cabins around but I still felt like I had the place to myself ( if that make sense) I took my mutts on long walks through all the lovely Michigan nature, had an amazing time with them and wore them out! In the mornings we went to the beach and had it to ourselves.
I didn't take advantage of everything there was to do because I just wanted to relax. This place is/was perfect! It's about a half hour away from a bigger city if you want to shop or find restaurants and there are so many scenic areas to visit. The owner Cory was so nice and for lack of a better word "chill":) he recommended so many things to do gave me a tour of some other cabins that were also adorable, I knew if I needed anything that I could just ask:) there aren't words enough to describe how much I enjoyed myself, and can't believe that there aren't more reviews for this place. I can't believe that I was able to find such an awesome place that was so affordable. I will absolutely positively be back next year. I highly recommend going there and have told so many people about this place, it's only been a week since I've been back to work and I'm already planning my vacation next year.
Thank you Cory and I'll see you next year!
Side note: my GPS is about 6 yrs old and it routed me just fine, you can also download offline directions on your phone just in case:)
Very quaint cottage. Beautiful area. The owner is so nice and hands on. Can't wait to go back. Definitely want the same place.
I highly recommend a stay here!
I was looking for a quiet location to disappear to with zero to little disturbance from anyone else, all while exploring (kayaking, hiking) the area. My eight-night stay in the Cedar Cottage was absolute perfection and I will be going back for years to come. In fact, I'm already planning my next trip.
Host Cory Cole was eager to answer all and any of my questions, ranging from simple to blunt because I knew exactly what I wanted out of the trip, from the time I was looking into coming (late March) until the last day of my stay. Not only did his warm personality and knowledge of the area make him an asset in helping me plan my stay and aid in my daily adventures, but part of what made the experience that incredible. Simply put, he's awesome.
Outside of bringing in my own groceries, the Cedar Cottage was equipped with everything I needed in the kitchen/living room, bedroom and bathroom. Each night I was out on the front porch grilling supper (gas grill provided) and lounging in a pillowed patio chair. The only sounds were that of natureno music, no yelling children and the only road traffic was that of the nearby kayak pickups. The pillow-top queen bed was a dream to fall into at night after spending the day in the woods or on the water. It was comfortable and homey; it couldn't have been better.
The Cedar Cottage was less than 50 yards from the Au Train River, which allowed me to easily carry the kayak to the river's edge and venture out daily.
Go to Au Train River Cottages to disconnect from the world and embrace the opportunity to be immersed in a simplified lifestyle where LIVING is what matters.
Nice cottage. Friendly owner. I enjoyed my stay!
