No washer/dryer in big apartments which is a big disappointment especially for couple with babies.. The common washer and dryer are of poor quality. I had put my quilt for washing and it got torn.. Washer's upper surface is with cheap plastic which has come off and could damage the cloths especially if you only want to wash a very few cloths which may come up while washing due to its low weight.. Secondly, the ground floor area is directly connected to garden area which invites lot of spiders and a particular type of insect and few others. The cementing outside patio has lot of holes where these insect would easily stay and can easily enter the house.. Besides there is noisy neighbor and lots of pets around since they do allow it..
Now some good things - rooms are spacious, layout is very good.. Wish they had open kitchen plan from where you could watch TV and be connected with the guests.. One more thing to notice they have given a mirror box inside washroom which is fine. But I went to clean it and my fingers got rubbed on the edges of it. The edges are too sharp and I got cut so you gotta be careful of such sharp edges which I didn't notice beforehand.. There are two bathrooms, I wish there was one shower room given instead of both be given with bath tubs.. And wish they had provided one ceiling fan in the master bedroom Closet is big enough.. Rooms are big enough.. Kitchen is good size and with lot of storage.. Overall storage area in the house is good.. Border of the windows look old though..
They have gym, one tennis court and swimming pool.. Have used gym, pretty small though.. Tennis court fencing should be big enough so that balls wouldn't go out often.. Overall maintenance look good enough.. That's all for till date experience..
Large size rooms, appliances are not that old. Kitchen has many shelves. Carpets are like new. We only had fridge issue and that was promptly addressed. Never used maintenance otherwise. Enough parking space. Not much noise except we have one noisy neighbour. With such a big size rooms, high paying rent, biggest disappointment is no washer and dryer included. Kitchen is a closed one i.e. no TV watching while cooking. Club house is decent with small gym, pool, child play area, tennis court. No big complaints and no exceptional features. Glass windows are old fashioned and not French ones, hence you need to use force to open/close them and they don't seal properly thereby breeding insects and flies.
I've lived in this apartment complex for almost two years now. The first year it was great, but halfway through my second year, my building was infested with roaches. I'm sad to say that it is still infested with roaches and it's absolutely disgusting. The complex and the office aren't doing anything about it and they know where the problem is coming from. They send out a pest control worker when requested. But the roaches will not leave. That is because the families who have the roaches are still living here. I was told when I first moved in that if my dog did not stop barking, I would be asked to leave because she was affecting others in the living community. However these families with roaches are allowed to stay. I just don't understand it. I would not recommend this apartment complex to anyone! I plan to leave before my lease is even up. It's that bad.
Great place to live. I've lived in other apartments in the Grand Rapids area, and the Oxford apartments are definitely the best. The staff is great and respond quickly to any maintenance requests. Prices are a little high, but still a great place to live.
Management is terrible. Does not resolve issues. Rules are not enforced. Entire building stinks of pot. Supposed to be a "non smoking" building, however 60% of the residents smoke indoors. Not to mention over priced for what you get. But the main problem is the smoke. If you are an avid smoker, then any if oxfords non smoking units are for you!
My family has had a great experience at Oxford Place! The complex is very well maintained, the pool, dog park and playground are a nice bonus. The apartment it's self is very clean and updated. We live in a building with a lot of large dogs, I can hear them barking in the hallway but I've never heard any noise inside our apartment. The office and maintenance staff is wonderful! We needed a short term lease while house hunting so we'll be moving soon but I would not hesitate to recommend this complex to anyone.
For an apartment it's good. I'm not a huge fan of the people in the office cause they aren't always eager to help. But overall my wife and I have been here two years and the maintenance is very nice and responds quickly. People we've met have been very friendly and grounds are well kept and quiet. Dog park is a nice addition. It's the only apartments we could find that allowed our German Shepherd. I would recommend to a friend.
My son and I have resided in Oxford Place for 5yrs and our overall experience has been great! The buildings and grounds are well kept! The Office staff are courteous, personable, willing to serve. Dennis Monroe always is cheerful and able to make me laugh. These are just some of the reason I have stayed a resident even though my budget has told me the past 2 yrs I couldn't afford to. Alas we really must move on but I wish we didn't have to. Oxford Place has many amenities. Swimming pool, gym, convenient shopping and restaurants nearby as well.
I'm not exactly sure where some of these other reviewers were actually living, but I've been at Oxford Place for 2.5 years and it's been a great apartment experience. Sure, there are sometimes issues but it's a complex with 100+ apartments - what do you expect?
However, in the last couple of years any issues we've had have been taken care of promptly by the maintenance and office staff. Recommendations for updates have been taken into account and in some cases implemented very quickly. The 4 or 5 times (in the last two years) there were crimes on the property we were notified the same or next business day, and I have never felt unsafe, even walking my beagle late at night.
Amenities are great - small fitness center with machines and dumbbells, a nice sized pool, tennis courts and a playground, and a dog park that's been recently updated with lights, a water tank and agility equipment. The property is quiet, roomy and mostly well lit. Parking does seem to fill up quite quickly but there are parts of the lots that I've literally never seen people park in - probably because they're not right next to the building.
I've recommended the complex to several friends - prices might seem high but you're not going to find anything as nice or with as many amenities for cheaper.
