I stopped in with a few questions about the sights being out of alignment and what holster might be more favorable for a tracer. They quickly adjusted the front sight and replaced the battery for the tracer. Then he opened up a few packages for me to try out some holsters. I will be back. They have my service.
Went in today for a last minute drill/tap for a sling mount. They were slammed just days ahead of regular gun season but made room for my request. Not sure on cost comparison, but considering the quality work done quickly, I won't question it.
Service has been great from the staff, however most seem very inexperienced. Several employees didn't even know what a stripped lower is. Stock is great and has almost anything you could need, if you can find it that is. Pistol displays are horribly unorganized and it's almost impossible to find what you're looking for. As far as ordering weapons, these people have zero idea what they're doing. Been waiting a little over 2 weeks for a stripped lower from spikes tactical. They didn't even place the order until a week after they had my money. And now they're saying it's going to take another week and they have absolutely no idea where the package is at. Overall the staff is the biggest hindrance to this store, they're uninformed, untrained, and unknowledgeable for the most part. There are exceptions to this though, mostly the older guys that handle the actual smithing.
Great shop! Salesman are very knowledgeable about their trade, fair prices and good selection.
I love this place! I travel over an hour to shop their wide selection of well priced firearms. I enjoy their expertise and their environment. I'm definitely going to buy more from this place.
They have a lot of stuff but the people who work there are not to friendly. Hard as heck to get someone to wait on you too. Better off to go somewhere elts and get better customer service.
Went to On Target on 7/27 to have sights milled and installed on my firearm. I was quoted one week. One week later I call and they tell me it hasn't been touched, and they didn't know who would've quoted me one week. I said I'd give them another week.
This Monday, 8/7 I call to see if the timeline is still the same, and I get transferred to the gunsmith who says he has a few projects ahead, but he'll start getting the mill setup.
Thursday comes around and my firearm has STILL not been touched. So I go in obviously upset, which I deserve to be. I ask for a manager and I explained the situation.
I wanted an idea of how long it'll take to get my firearm done. This time the answer was "it'll get done when it gets done". What kind of business operates like that?
That answer didn't satisfy me. I chose On Target to do the work, even though I had a quote from another company that was half of what On Target would've charged, simply because of the one week quote.
The man I'm speaking with then says "What do you want from me? An apology? Your gun back?" I told him if I took my gun back and walked out the door I wouldn't come back. I reward businesses that do good work with loyalty, so far I've been tossed around while my gun sits in their store.
The manager then starts getting aggressive and claiming that I'm just here to bully him and yell and what not. I never even raised my voice. I just wanted to get an idea of how long it would take to get my gun back.
Once the manager started backtalking as if me being upset is somehow misguided, I had enough. I told him to take the tag off my firearm. He asks for my ID, all the while telling me that I'm a bully, and then he shoves my ID toward me in a way that let me know he was angry.
Great work On Target. I meant what I said about not coming back. I had no issue paying your prices (which are higher than everywhere else), but when your manager can't handle an upset customer, and then starts talking back and sassing up, you lost me.
I'll go reward another company with my business. And that goes far beyond sight work. I had plans to buy new firearms, ammo, even a gun safe. But not from you guys. You really dropped the ball.
Great place to shop for your next firearm. They have a huge selection of firearms in stock, and if they don't have it in stock they can always order the item you are in the market for. They are also reasonable on buy back prices, for those that are interested in selling or upgrading their current firearm. What I like most about On Target is that everyone is very knowledgeable, friendly and helpful, that's what keeps me coming back. Great place and great people!
I've bought a few guns from here. You can't beat their 6 month layaway with only 20 bucks down. I've compared prices online and these guys are in the ball park. They may not be the most organized, but I enjoy browsing around and discovering things here and there. It only takes a couple of visits to learn where things are.
BEWARE!! I HAD THE ABSOLUTE WORST EXPERIENCE EVER, WHEN BUYING A GUN FROM "ON TARGET GUNS!!!" 05/10/2017
I first entered their doors 3 weeks ago and met the owner who bragged about how many guns they sell per year. Then, he went on to brag about how amazing his son was who handled the special orders. All the while, I just took that in as if to say he was a proud man with his chest puffed out. I didn't let that bother me at that point, because a man is allowed to love his family and I get that. However, upon reentering the store this past Sunday, it was a horse of a different color. I had called and inquired, the Thursday prior, to see if they had a used handgun in stock that I was looking to make a purchase on. They did, so I paid for it to be held on layaway until Sunday when I would have time to make the 2 and 1/2 hour round trip from Lansing to buy it. My 22 year old Navy veteran son and his friend made it there before me and were looking at guns with one of the sales people. The guy that was helping them was rude to them, stating a "real man" buys a 1911, after being asked to show them a different hand gun (FNX 45). As I walked up to the counter, the guy was immediately rude to me, saying "oh, if you're his dad, then I get it now." This guy was consistently rude till we left. I had already been with the salesperson who was handling my layaway at that point and was waiting for him to type up the gun record for my purchase. I was interested in buying two other guns that day also. I wanted to layaway one of them and buy the other one aside from the one I had already paid for from the short layaway. But, when I asked the rude salesperson for a chance to speak to the owner, whom I had met before, he came back with the owner, who was also immediately rude to me and told me he didn't have time to deal with me because he was too busy packing $10,000 worth of packages for "paying" customers and that his staff knew what he had in his guns to make that decision. Apparently, that wasn't true, because the rid guy offered no discount when I asked and the owner said it was $750, take it or leave it, just before walking away.
After thinking this through, I'm certain I haven't ever been treated like that anywhere else ever when I was trying to give my money to a shop. It's just bad business and overall insulting that all paying customers aren't worth more respect than that. At no point did I become belligerent or disrespectful towards anyone there even though. I was raised to respect people. I'm almost 50 years old and it took everything I had to walk out of there quietly. All in all, there was no reason for my family and I to ever be treated that way. I was willing to spend over $1100 that day for the layaway gun and the other gun and accessories. Plus, I would have put the $1800 gun I wanted on layaway for a future pickup a week later. Bad service changed that day from becoming a customer for life to guaranteeing I would never step a foot in there again.
The vibe in there reminded me of a scene in the movie - Tombstone, where Wyatt Earp had to pistol whip the dealer to take over the saloon, making it profitable again after that. Apparently through, this store doesn't need any more profit. Good for them! Because they won't get my business and hopefully not the 750 Facebook friends, the 3215 LinkedIn members of my circle, and the 60 people and their families I work with on a daily basis that I have copy and pasted this review to.
When you treat taxpayers like that, they will usually go elsewhere. It's bad enough what happens to us through the IRS, I don't need it from a cocky and arrogant business owner and his shady cronies after driving 2 1/2 hours to give them my money. No thanks!
I really like this place, everyone is super nice, helpful, and knowledgeable But omg y'all need more shelving/organization/a new bigger building.
They get 2 stars because of the amount of inventory. That's all they have going for them, and even that is borderline because it's so unorganized it takes forever to find what you're looking for. Customer service is virtually non-existent. People either can't be bothered to help, or are complete jerks. If you're one of the lucky few they deem worth their time, they'll try to sell you something that is way beyond what you want or need.
While there is a good selection of firearms and accessories, it is terribly unorganized. The staff seem helpful enough but lack the knowledge of their own inventory. I've been there multiple times and not once have they been able to help me find specific handguns. I have to spend 5 minutes looking through the glass counters piled up with new and used guns.
Advice for management:
Organize your firearms by caliber and manufacturer. Then place them strategically in the counters. Nobody wants their brand new gun dug up from the bottom of a pile.
