Alex is the bomb! I've had plenty of folks sweep my chimney but never anyone as courteous & as skilled as Alex from Old Smokey's. They even clean the fireplace, paint and repair as needed! Prices are fair (cheap compared to others) and service is prompt and timely. I'll always have Old Smokey's do my work!

I only gave them 2 stars because, when it comes to building fireplaces, chimneys and installing wood stoves, I think they're excellent. They did both for me almost 16 years ago and I thrilled with their work.

Last year I asked their chimney sweep to come sweep our chimney and fix a stuck damper. Instead, he scares the crap out of my wife saying the chimney that they built just 15 years prior was a death trap and needed BOTH dampers replaced, chimney liners in both flues (based on a tiny hairline crack in just one) and the enter fire box repointed. Total quote . . . Over $9,000! I took the pics they supplied of the death crack to a professional mason friend who smiled and said. "Let me guess. This is from Old Smokey's". When I nodded, he said, "Yeah, we get a lot of complaints about their scare tactics." Needless to say, he didn't feel the crack was of any concern whatsoever.

BTW, I just happened to rent an extendable forklift for the week for other projects so I used it to take a ride to the top of the chimney. 2 taps with a hammer and the damper works perfectly. It only took me this long to go up there because it's 30 high and I don't have a ladder long enough.

I would never do business with these crooks again. Shame on them for preying on people's fears just to make a dishonest buck, let alone 9,000 of them.

They installed my fireplace and chimney. Very professional and friendly local company. Quick and clean installation. Elegant masonry work. I couldn't ask for more.
