-Phone service seems to hardly ever be available.
*UPDATE*
I have called several time randomly for the past 3 day now. The phone just beep WHY you no answer phone?!?!?!?
*UPDATE*
Phone still doesn't work. How am I supposed to know if they're open or not? Just because it says hours operation on google (which are wrong by the way) does not mean they're still there. So tired of driving all the way there only to find out there closed.
*UPDATE*
Turns out they have blocked my number. Not sure why, nothing was ever said to me. Will not be spending $100's of dollars there again like I have done collectively the past year.
This vendor is a scam artist, do not buy from them. They will ship you rusted out garbage and then ignore your emails and disconnect their phone. They claim to have American made items, but this shotgun scabbard is Chinese garbage and came damaged. Just look on the Better Business Bureau to see their rating of F.
Found a great deal on an ammo Box the other day. Nice stuff!
I've been to this store and they deserve a higher Google rating. I've bought lots of stuff here and it's always been high quality at a fair price. They have always treated me very good.
Similar issue as prior review. Hard to get to answer the phone, poor communication and lied to. I called and left messages without replies prior to the order, so I should have known better. Similarly, I did not read reviews which I generally do so I set myself up for disaster.
I placed an order and heard nothing, so 2 weeks later I inquired. Tim assured me that most of the order was delivered today (I was not home), and that the poncho was in transit and would be delivered the next day. Part of the order was received. The poncho was not received the next day. The following week I called again, twice, and he said he would research it and call me back (he did not). When I called 3 days later I was told that a new shipment of ponchos arrived and that mine would be mailed out via FedEx now. It was now evident that I was lied to from the beginning when I was told that the poncho would be "delivered tomorrow"in fact it never was shipped. I received the poncho (not via FedEx as told) approximately 4 weeks after ordering. This is poor communication along with being lied to. I would not recommend Old Grouch's Military Surplus and I will not shop there again. If he would have been honest from the beginning and advised a backorder or an actual issue I would have been fine, but I do not appreciate being lied to.
Wow.what a cluster%$&*.DO NOT ORDER ONLINE.seriously these guys have no idea how to run an online store. I ordered 115$ worth of stuff, talked to Tim on the phone about recommendations. I was building an ALICE pack for a hunting trip. A week after my order, I noticed it hadn't shipped. So I called and Tim told me the remainder of my order just arrived and they were prepping for shipment. Nope, another week went by, but this time the phone was always busy. Then a USPS tracking number showed up on my order but never was picked up. I called again and emailed, busy phone and no email response. I then called the awesome gun shop across the street to see if they were still in business. The guy ran my name and number across the street to Old Grouch. I then got an email from Tim saying a bolt of fabric was defectiveeverything I ordered was used so that was BS. Then he said the postal carrier didn't pick up the shipment, then he sent an email saying he'd cancel the order, this was after I send a few emails telling him to cancel my order. And today a box from Fedex was dropped on my porch containing most of my order. I may never see my money or other 2 things they forgot to put in the box. The stuff is also more than used, very very pissed off.
9/7/17 Currently disputing transaction through my bank statement now because yet again, their phone is busy. Unless you like giving money to retailers and receiving nothing in return, stay away.
Love stopping by when I'm in the area. Merchandise is always changing. Tim always has something new and different. A true military surplus store, run by a veteran.
My dad tried to order of a piece of canvas and a canvas sewing kit from Old Grouch's Military Surplus. As soon as the order was placed, the charge was made on his credit card. However, days went by and received no product. We thought it may have been that they had forgotten so we called and for two days straight we were receiving a busy phone line tone. When we finally did get a hold of them, we spoke with Tim from the company and he apologized and said that he was going to speak with his shipping crew, and for all of our hassle he was re-sending a new order at no charge. A few days went buy and still received no package. We had received a tracking number and every time we tracked the package it said that the label was created but never picked up. This tracking has been the same for a week now. It has been over one month and still nothing. To say we are aggravated is an understatement. Will not be using this company any longer.
-Phone service seems to hardly ever be available.
-Descent people willing to work with you and help you the best they can.
-Interesting selection.
-Quality gear .

I am a retired First Sergeant and a current Junior ROTC instructor. I placed a $758 order from Old Grouch's Military Surplus on February 18th. We still have not received our order. Communication has been non existent. I called and they said they were sending the order out that day. Although the sales staff have been kind and respectful, our problem is not resolved. That was two weeks ago (today is April 2nd) and the order has still not shipped. There is a FEDEX tracking number, but the order is still waiting to be picked up. The status says that the label has been created. The sad thing is that we need this order to compete in the Mountain Man Memorial March. It honors fallen Soldiers. We may not be able to fully compete is the event unless we receive this order. We also have paid nearly $1000 in entry fees and an additional $500 in lodging to compete. We ordered our equipment from Old Grouch's in confidence. There was no indication that they could not or would not fill the order. My credit card was charged for the order. Use caution.
Not satisified. They had exactly what I wanted, I ordered no problem, really easy to do so online by the way. I didn't see any updates on my order status so I called and asked them to rush it out. This is were things got annoying. They did exactly that, or they told me so atleast. From there it has been a game of cat and mouse. I call and check on the status and I have been told it has shipped. They also say the order status will update. It hasn't yet. I have called about 5 times now, each time the same pleasant gentleman answers, as polite as anyone could be, and gives me the same answer to my question. I trust people implicitly until they have failed me. I am still patiently awaiting the package, but I fear it will never get here. Lost somewhere in the packaging black hole that is a FedEx distribution center. Also poor Alice, I knew thee not. Someone please help get me some information about my MIA gear!
They helped find what I needed and it seemed reasonable quality and price. But a canteen that they sold me had a hole in it. Although they said they would replace it, they never did. I will not shop there any more.
