GREAT staff, very friendly and genuine with a ton of compassion for your pet. Dr. Wagoner took excellent care of my beloved pigeon baby while understanding my concerns. The prices of our visits were more than reasonable and I could not be more thankful for the care they gave my Archimedes. ❤

This is the nicest Veterinary clinic. The staff is always so pleasant. They are great for getting my pets in quickly in an emergency.

THIS IS A DIFFICULT REVIEW AS I WAS A CLIENT FOR MANY YEARS THE GREAT STAFF AND THE OWNER OF THE ESTABLISHMENT AND THE LOVE THEY GIVE TO THE INJURED AND SICK. BUT WHEN I NEEDED THEM TO COME TO MY HOME TO SENT MY ROTTIE PRECIOUS ON HER JOURNEY THE DOCTOR ON CALL REFUSED TO COME AS HE WAS BUSY. THIS WAS AFTER 10 YEARS OF SUPPORTING THIS CLINIC.

They do a really excellent job. The doctors / technicians are very considerate and even help out during the holidays. My cat had an emergency and they booked her the same day despite being over booked. Medically, it was bad news but they are nice. I highly recommend this Vet.

Office cant make appointments without Dr. permission? Called on Sat 8/19was told to call back for appointment on 8/21. Thats today. Was told at 8 a.m. today."CANT MAKE APPOINTMENT.THEY ARE BOOKED".
I ASKED"OKSO YOUR BOOKED WHAT?.FOR A YEAR.I HAVE BEEN TRYING TO MAKE APPOINTMENT FOR 3 DAYS. APPOINTMENT. JUST MAKE THE APPOINTMENT..BUT NO..WE NEED TO CHECK.WIIIITH THE DR.?
DONT BOTHERMY SWEET LITTLE BABY IS DEAD.
YOU ARE ABSOLUTELY THE WORST..PATHTIC..UNCARING..SAD EXCUSE FOR A ANIMAL CARE HOSPITAL.

The staff were extremely kind and compassionate when it was time to say goodbye to our beloved dog. To be able to be with her in a private, comfortable sitting room as she passed was a gift to all of us.

The prices aren't bad but the veterinarians there aren't personable and don't seem to care about your pets too much. My cat ingested something toxic and I told the vet what it was and he said the cat would be fine. He gave him a shot (in the back room) and apparently did a detox. When the cat lost a lot of weight, I brought him in the following week and the vet again said he should be fine but gave him fluids. He didn't really ask any questions about how my cat was doing and didn't seem interested in my kitten's health. My cat died the next morning. I am extremely disappointed as well as heartbroken and genuinely fell like Oakwood didn't do everything they could have for my kitty.

On a day I dreaded putting my beloved dog down, the staff was so compassionate and wonderful to myself & my wife. We were put in a nice room so she could lay on the couch and go in comfort. Words cannot express how thankful I am to them for their compassion

Only giving two stars because the environment seemed nice and clean. The people here were absolutely horrible and unprofessional when I went in for a checkup. The vet did not introduce himself (and I still don't know his name) or ask me any questions or seem like he was interested in answering my questions. He clearly had other places to be and was not interested in seeing my kitten. The vet tech was nice enough but unhelpful and not personable. It was a very quick visit and a waste of my money to take my kitten here. Please take your pets elsewhere for proper care.

This clinic is not suitable for small animals such as rabbits or guinea pigs.
Although they do accept small animals, the doctor is not responsible and is not willing to do much. I have been there 3 times. First time was when I got my rabbit, and it was very skinny. I have years of experience of raising rabbit so I am feeling something must be wrong with it, so I took him there for a check. But the doctor just weighted it and said it was healthy. He even got its gender wrong. As a precaution I insisted doing a poop test. A few days later my rabbit becomes very weak and unwilling to eat, so I went there for the second time. The same doctor checked it and admitted it was in a bad condition, but he was unable to tell what was wrong! He gave it a shot of Vitamin C and asked me to go home and wait. Luckily the poop test result came and showed that there was indeed parasite in my bunny. The doctor wrote prescription on that, but they did not provide the medicine because their in-house medicine are all for cats/dogs thus was too strong for rabbit. I have to go to a pharmacy in Latham, waited 3 days to get the medicine to save my bunny. I was lucky that my bunny stayed alive till the medicine to come. But small animals are fragile and usually cannot wait that long. And if I did not insist on a poop test, I will never know what was really wrong. The doctor was not helpful at all.
The third time was with my friend's guinea pig. It stopped eating and appeared sick. But the same doctor checked it and said it was still eating because there was poop in the intestine, so he asked us to go home and wait again. No other further test were done. The next day my friend took it to another vet and they perform X-rays and found that it was actually very sick.
This vet may be very good with larger animals such as cats and dogs, but they are not good with small animals. The only reason I went there is because it is close. But I won't go any more. My point is if they are providing service for small animals, they's better do it better. Otherwise it is just a waste of time of both doctors and customers.response / report this review -

Oakwood Vet is a very reliable clinic. The vets know exactly what they are talking about and provide a great amount of insight on your pets health and what to look out for. Prices for shots are also not bad at all as well compared to other clinics.

It started when my own corporate vet in Latham NY could not see my sick pup for one week. I called in the evening, the Dr saw us the next afternoon. Great customer service. Great care. More than reasonable prices - they are NOT there to take your money.
