My family took a Norwegian cruise to Alaska recently and for the first time ever on a cruise we had a bad experience. At first we just assumed that these were simple things that were overlooked and would be soon fixed. Sadly this didn't happen for the majority of the trip!
We first arrived and I had to clean the room because all the drawers had hair and clothing tags, rocks etc in them. Then we went to shower and there was no cold water for 4 days of the cruise!!! I told someone from the front desk and no one came to repair anything. I then told our stateroom girl and finally after a day or so this was fixed (this is after showing people about 4 times). We had to bathe our children several times with cups of water from the sink because the water from the shower was so hot. To add to this, we had a flickering light in our room for days, so we couldn't use the lights without feeling like we were in the twilight zone. The sink was clogged which we told the front desk and no one came to fix this, so we fixed it ourselves with a fork from the dining room (there was a plastic gold coin stuck down in the sink drain). The hairdryer was so clogged it barely worked, so I cleaned that too. We went to breakfast one day and they forgot about us for an hour until we asked what happened to our food, with no apology. There is more, but these are the most important items.
We have cruised with several major cruise companies and never had a complaint. I would never have imagined a company would have such a problem! We won't use Norwegian in the future!

Constantly nice and dining you. Cagney's T-bone/Porterhouse steak was terrible! Large ship with the tiniest pool ever! Everything from the arcade to darts to paying tax on the drink package you are charged for. Can't get into most shows because the theater does not accommodate the 5000 + people that on the ship. Parties outside at night in the sweltering heat and very thick humid air. Most bars don't open until noon. Hardly anything to do besides Gamble and drink! The only great thing is the Rope Course. It was scary but fun!

The food was pretty good. The ship is just too crowded on these summer cruises with all the kids. Almost sucks all the fun out of the vacation when you can't move around. Service was decent. Freestyle dining is not my favorite.

Great place to work! Nice building and slowly improving. Corporate vibe if thats what you're looking for. Cafeteria operated by Aramak in connecting building. Food trucks daily. Gym on campus with discount offered to NCLH employees.

5 travelers in our party. The 3rd person in the second room should be at a lower rate. However Norwegian decided to charge us $80 dollars more than all others for the 5th person in our party. The on ship experience was very good. Rooms were clean and comfortable. The food was also very good. Overall a good experience. They need to improve their sales process to make this a better overall experience for their customers.

Better food and service on other liners. Checkin staff were clueless. You only got an answer to your questions if you spoke to an "officer". The rest were untrained and ignorant. They cancelled 6 of our 10 ports. Only told us as we boarded. ( ship had a motor problem for at least 3 weeks prior) Xmas day and New Years day were meant to be on ship. They made these port days. Offered 50% discount on cruise for destroying our holiday. After taking out port fees, gratuities etc etc really only 30%. Oh 50% off next cruiseas well. They did nothing to show we should travel with them again.

Don't book your air with NCL. It's much more expensive than booking directly with the airline. And, when you question their CEO about the over-charge and non-caring, you're ignored. Perhaps, you should consider taking a Carnival corporation cruise where the management cares about their service.

This was my first cruise experience so I have nothing to compare it to.
Pros: some of the ports/countries you visit are beautiful.
Food in the buffet is good and you will always find something to eat.
The ship/buffet area and rooms are very clean.

Cons: the Internet package is so unbelievably expensive especially if you are travelling from out of the US.
They only have 1 small- medium size pool and it gets extremely crowded.
They have singers that sing by the pool- it's so loud and not relaxing especially for people trying to read or just looking to relax.
The music/parties are so loud that you will hear it in your room past 12/1am.
Everything got booked within the first few hours on the ship- you have to make reservations for shows/ the special lounge area/spa. If you don't do this right away it will be sold out.
