I want to let it be known that I am an adult with two business degrees; I am not a college student. I was on a family vacation; I was not on Spring Break. I just read some other reviews where I learned that I was not alone in being treated disrespectfully by the older gentleman in this wide spot on the road.
Judging by the reviews on your establishment, I would like to know how many times you have said, “This isn’t a government funded facility.” And then you continue to lecture me on Florida tourists stopping by to empty their trash and leave. It surprises me that your store is still open for business. I was shocked at the way that you greet people. You should always greet them as potential customers, because the potential was very high with me. I'm not going to give you a free business lesson. In the past, I have charged universities a lot of money for me to teach business courses to their students.
I came in to get some water for my one year old son's bottle. My baby was in need of sustenance and comfort during our long and tiring journey home. I pulled up thinking, "I like this store already. It has a certain charm to it. It is my style!" I walk in to be belittled, and at that point I had clearly made up my mind to not bring the family in for breakfast after the way you treated me.
I had cash. My wife and I were previously servers at a restaurant; we clean up after ourselves and tip well. I am also a traditionalist. I like to repeat things on our yearly vacations. If the experience would have been pleasant, there’s a good chance that we would have started eating breakfast there on our way back on every trip.
Do you see the problem here? Now, you have earned yourself some free advertising; I will tell everyone that I see or hear of traveling that way to not go close to your store. I won’t send any family, friends, or neighbors of mine to an establishment with such a rude proprietor. I wonder if the “partners” that your store’s website mentions knows anything about your behavior?

My baby didn't go without. I had some bottled water, but wanted warm water. And in most places, water is free. I'm not a proud person, but I don't do well with bad attitudes and negativity. It was a wet diaper.response / report this review -

The point was the way you acted towards adults who just stopped to use a facility we didn't know you had to pay for. WHEN WE TRIED TO PAY YOU CONTINUED TO BE A JERK. Please stop talking down to us because it is you who has the problem. We did nothing but show people how you treated us and for you to say that our opinion doesn't matter just because of our age shows you have the problem. The 'nice' reviews are from people who you didn't judge right on the spot. So excuse us if we felt we were targeted. It doesn't take someone with a college degree to see when they are being completely disrespected.
REVIEW: I wish I could say this was an awesome, friendly run establishment but it's not at all. We had two cars, 7 people total. The Red Bay Grocery was the closest with a bathroom. Little did we know that if you look like a college student or don't show up with cash then you are NOT allowed to use their facilities. Even when we tried to purchase something, he got in one of my friends faces just because he didn't have cash. Maybe you had a bad run with college kids but you can't keep treating them all like crap. We LITERALLY just tried using the bathroom. Ill pray for you because someone who can judge a person based on appearance and calls them uneducated and a spoiled brat is sad and needs prayer. Worst customer service I have ever had. Don't let the tourist in the description fool you, they hate out of state people, and will treat you like trash. The owner is very arragent and easily pissed off. Don't ask to use their bathroom (outhouse) it's for customers only! PS. Don't forget your check book my fellow spring breakers, I know all of you have one 😂. He will rip you a new ass for not having cash on you, and gets pissed when you let him know that he should really upgrade his point of sale!

They have canned, home-made jellies, jams, pickles, etc and one time they even had pickled green beans ! Good beer and soda selection. Unique place!
