I stayed here in what they call a Logdominiums (condo like) for 4 nights in March 2018 to snowmobile. Everyone here was friendly and a pleasure to deal with. Our room had radiant heating which works pretty well once it gets up to temp, but not great if you have damp/gear your looking to dry out. Other notes: room was clean, food is average, no cell service, wifi available in the lodge, great ITS trail access from the property, lots of parking for trailers. I would stay here again if I decide to sled from the Forks, ME. My only compliant was the noticeable displeasure one of the male employees showed when someone in my party asked them to get the fire going again. In our defense it was around dinner time and there were people sitting around the fireplace that thanked us for asking.
Northern outdoors was awesome! Everything you needed was very close by at the lodge. The cabin was awesome - clean, cozy, and cool! The atmosphere and staff on site were all great. Renting our snowmobile couldn't have been easier. We literally walked down to the lodge, went through the training, walked out back, and we were off! We are so excited to return to see what the summer has to offer there! Thank you so much for a great weekend getaway!!
Great time. Good food. Good drinks. Great place to stay. Sled right out your door. Nice lounge .
Well out of the way. Plenty of rentals nicely spaced apart. Relaxing. Nicely sized rentals.
Love hanging out at Northern after a day on the river or the trails. The beer, the giant outdoor hot tub, the people sweet cabins in the woods. Travelers who stick to the coast are missing out on vacations in Maine's North Woods.
Stayed at RV site two nights while on a rafting trip. Had a great time. Sites are very basic but they work. Facility at the lodge is good but they could use an extra staff person or two in the restaurant during busy times. Would go back again.
Nice rustic location to grab a bite or a drink. They have a nice patio out back with some corn hole boards set up. The brewery is downstairs and pretty small. You can get a flight of 5 beers at the bar and the beers are all pretty good.
The owner can shove off. I bought a room and was in the hot tub and she had me kicked out because she had saw me earlier in the day around 3 and saw me in the hot tub at 8 and I was obviously too drunk after drinking three Coors. Paid good money to stay in their rooms, I won't recommend this place to anyone.
We did the river float kayak experience. It was fun floating the Kinnebec River in an inflatable kayak. The river is pretty calm with a few areas of low level rapids. I would say the experience would be good for beginning kayakers. It was not stressful at all.
It was a nice place to stay while hiking the AT, free shuttle and they let hikes use facilities for free. Hot tub!
We all had a great time. The staff was friendly and extremely knowledgeable. Definitely take the Whitewater trip.
Rafted the kennebec and then stayed overnight in one of the large cabins. Everything about our stay was great. Great service, fun raft experience, awesome food and beer in the lodge. I can't wait to go back
The rafting in itself is excellent: nice guides, nice adventure, the lunch break is on a pretty cool beach. The beers are more than decent and it's definitely enjoyable to try a sampler after a day in the cold water.
Organisation-wise though, it's chaos. The instructions you're given upon arrival to the camp site are to leave your car at the camp site to keep space in the parking lot for visitors. Don't do that, unless you want to be told that you need to walk back to leave your clothes in your car/tent, because there's no locker.
Finally, the main reason why I won't put 5 stars is because the wetsuit is not included in the price and you'll need to rent it aside. I've raft many times in many places, and I've never seen that before !
10/10. Friendly, informative staff. Went with a big group and it was super fun. There is a pool and hot tub. The bar is open until midnight and it houses a lot of the beers that they brew themselves in the building. The rafting comes with lunch (but the food that you can order off their restaurant menu is amazing, i recommend the nachos and french fries) and there are cabins, rooms, tenting, etc. The rooms are lovely and spacious and the breakfast is early but worth it. There's a lake next to the main building with a gorgeous dock and view.
I went rafting on the Dead River as a first timer and it was SUPER fun, definitely tiring but the guide on the boat was super fun and nice which added to the experience.
I think that this place is lovely for families, college students, and grown-ups. Everyone can find something that they enjoy. At one point they held a corn hole tournament on the grounds. There's an arcade, as well.
An awesome place! Incredibly helpful and accommodating staff and one-of-a-kind guides. These folks are the best in the industry. I've been rafting with them several times before and have taking dozens of people with me, and they all say the same thing: There's no other rafting outfitter in New England quite like Northern.
Incredible place. Amazing staff and rafting guides. Awesome river trips.
Cabins were fantastic. Lodge was great, very accommodating. Food was awesome. The rafting experience from start to finish was second to none. Highly recommend this experience for anyone.
Fantastic brewery. The blueberry beer is second to none and the bartenders and staff were super friendly. Cole was exceptional and informative to the local social infrastructure. Great place to visit and a diamond in the rough.
Did the turbine release last month trip was great. Only downside was that my son & I were both hospitalized with mersa. We were told that they do no sanitize there life vests or helmets daily only wet suits. I've been doing business with Northern Outdoors for 20 years. It's a shame they really didn't care.
