I absolutely enjoyed this place. I am a teacher and took 85 of my students and I have heard nothing but positive reviews. Now, I no the controversy of zoos. I am one of those people that believe that not all animals should be in zoos. I can't stand seeing the big cats and small confinements. But this is Zoo, overall, has done a good job of trying to make sure the habitat fit the animals. It is on a large acreage of land. The long walk but it was a nice view and overall good zoo.

I personally love this zoo! Ive been quite a few times and each visit is different from the last. Not only do you get exercise you feel welcomed and all the enclosures are different from the last! Yes some of the animals are not always out but you can't blame the zoo for that different animals like different climates and some need their rest. I think its a wonderful trip for anyone who wants to have fun!

My all time favorite zoo. The animals have more space than I have ever seen at other zoos and they seem happier. We fine it best to park in North America and start by taking the tram to Africa and then walk back to North America. This let's you end your journey at the kids playground and close to the car. This is important because the tram gets busy towards the end of the day.

One of the nation's best zoo's plentiful parking but does get full on busy days arrive very early. The place is huge wear comfortable shoes. Plenty of food pavilions and restrooms. The best thing about this zoo is it gives you a view of animals in their natural habitats and has many viewing areas. We got to hand feed three giraffes it was amazing. You won't be disappointed

This is a great zoo and an awesome place to bring the whole family. There is quite a bit of walking involved to see the whole park because it is much larger and spread out than your typical zoo. This zoo makes a real effort to give the animals a habitat with plenty of room and as close to their natural habitat as possible. This is great for the animals, but can occasionally lead to some of the animals not being close to a viewing area or even not in view at all. A great tip to help ease the stress of so much walking: Take the tram from a stop near the entrance, (either N. America or Africa) to the stop in the center point between the 2 sides, and walk back towards the entrance. Most of the walking will be DOWNHILL if you do this. Much less tiring this way. Also for those that may need it they offer electric carts for rent and nearly everywhere in the zoo is accessible with these.

A gorgeous adventure and one of North Carolina's best kept secrets. There's truly something for everyone here. My only recommendation would be to book a hotel so you can go back twice and stay all day both times. You're going to need that much time to fully appreciate all the largest zoo in the world has to offer. There are two main parts to the zoo, North America and Africa. And yes you truly feel as though you're walking through the jungle. There's also a 3D dinosaur park we didn't have the chance to explore. My family and I will be returning soon as the zoo is an enchanting place that carries you away to a world hidden inside the trees.

Was a great time! The new Polar Bear enclosure gives it a much bigger area to roam around in and a comfy cave. I've been coming to this Zoo for many years and love getting to talk to the keepers!

Lots of different trails to follow for animal options. Most of the animals were actually within sight and active. The rhinos, antelopes, and giraffes were missed however. It seems the giraffes have a time constraint of 2:30 pm? Anyways, the field for the rhinos and antelopes is large (No complaints there, animals need these large spaces), so they're a bit of a hit or miss kind of deal. Good experience overall and friendly staff and food options along the way.

Great place for the whole family. Affordable and plenty of activities available. Large variety of animals, of course it is the world's largest zoo. Parking is free. Wear your walking shoes because there are plenty of walking and hills. If you forget your stroller, they have them available for rent ( $9 I think for a single). We arrived late In the afternoon, so they gave us a pass for the next day. It was so good that we did go back the next day and had just as much fun. There are trams that run between the 3 main stopping points, and there wasn't much of a wait most of the time. We all had a great time and hope to check it out again in the future.

It's a very large Zoo with lots of shade and a good price. My only issue what that despite its size there wasn't much to do other than walk from one animal exhibit to another and the exhibit them selves were small and felt crowded. It did look like they were building new larger exhibits which might make for a better flow. There are two parts to the park North America and Africa. With two continents of wild life it could have been two days of fun. It's still a nice place and great for kids.

The NC zoo has a special place in my heart as I grew up with it and am always surprised by how much it continues to improve. This place has all the makings of a world class zoo. Go in the spring or fall as the summer can be grueling walking the entire thing and the winter sees almost half of the habitats closed. The food in the park is remarkably not horrible for park food but you will pay park prices. The excessive walking is necessary as it allows the animals to have plenty of room to roam. If you think the zoo is a little big now just wait. By 2020 it will double in size as they are adding 2 new areas ( Australia and Asian). If you have small children try the dino bus. If you don't skip it.

Have been coming here since I was a kid.. Always so much fun! Food is a bit pricey but very good. Pack reusable water bottles and bring your own sunscreen! Plan to be here at least 4 hours! So much to see/do!

This zoo is AMAZING! It's not just walking through and seeing cage after cage of animals. Every path is tree lined and has beautiful landscaping so it gives lots of shade on hot days. The animals are grouped together by habitat and species. There are wonderful above ground and below ground areas to watch the animals. Plenty of places throughout to get food and drinks. Only thing I'd change is the prices of the food/drinks. A bottle of water is $3.75 and a burger w/fries is $9.50 and up. We've been to zoos across the country and I can honestly say this is one of our top 10 zoos!

Went to the wonderful zoo in Asheboro, NC!! I went the day after Memorial Day and this was a good decision because the crowds
were minimal. The animals here are happy; you can just tell because
they roam in their natural habitat freely. I fed a giraffe on a tree top
deck. Oh my God what a beautiful animal!! I love the elephants and
got to see them up close! What a treat! These are God's creatures he
made them and we are suppose to take really good of them!! I am a senior and got the senior discount plus I have AAA card and got another
$2 off of ticket price! Go to the zoo and enjoy your day!!

Really nice zoo, beautiful exhibits and a nice variety of animals. We got the fun pass and enjoyed the 4-D Theatre, the paddle boat, and especially the Dino Bus! The driver was absolutely fantastic and made my experience so much better than it already was. Lots of information available and even though it's the World's Largest Zoo, it only took us a little over three hours to stop and see every exhibit. I had a great time!
