The office is terrible
best place in state College. economical rent rates with excellent maintenance. clean apartments big lawn space and free parking. what more do you want.
My experience with the office was terrible. There is no heating in the bedrooms because it is and old system from the seventies and they told us the solution is to leave the bedroom door open so some heat from the living room gets there! On the day we arrived they didn´t want to give us the keys because their office closes at 3pm on saturday. We were travelling from abroad and could not arrive earlier. Fortunately we found in the contract that if they did not give us the keys, they had to reimburse us the first night. Then they agreed. The rent was very expensive (in total 2500 USD for 5 weeks, including 300 USD for cleaning the carpet (which had only dust!). The caution of 1800 USD was paid with visa card but in the end they refused to pay it back the same way. We were forced to find a friend to pick up a check of the caution after we left and transfer to us. Fortunately we had a friend there, otherwise they offered no solution. For that reason we had to pay around 150 usd for fees (visa and check) for the caution only. The rental receipt was very confused, mixing with the receipt of the application form, and when I asked to do it right, the manager screamed at me. The only positive thing was the maintenance guy, whcich was very professional.
One of the best places to stay in state college.
Nice place to live for not so expensive rents. However you need to pay all utilities. Best thing, plenty of parking space for your guests, without any permit.
I suggest that nobody ever move in to Nittany Gardens. The leasing office staff changes ever month and you never deal with the same person (staff nor manager). They hired a company to install a doorwall and window while I was gone for the day, and on two separate occasions my door was left unlocked and my I-Pod was stolen. Lawn care occurs before 8AM, and while I was living there they were also working on the roofs early in the morning (also before 8AM). The lease says that they want you to get your full security deposit back, but I was charged $170 to clean the carpets when I rarely had visitors; the most damage to the carpet was due to the numerous construction crews that they had stomping through my apartment. I strongly suggest that people look elsewhere for housing in the State College area. Their professionalism is questionable and maintenance and repairs occur at unreasonable times for the exorbitant amount of money that you pay. I highly recommend that you look into other places.
