Best Japanese market around! Bought sushi grade fish to make my own sushi plate, excellent farm fresh organic vegetables. All those condiments and meal preparation needs for amazing Asian dishes, plus of course, fantastic noodles. My favorite is buckwheat soba noodles. Give it a Try.. You won't be disappointed!

Very fresh Sashimi. made a few hours before. Great selection in various boxes at a reasonable (not cheap) price. Staff is very polite and responsive. Parking can be a challenge on weekends.. like most places in WLA.

This is one of my favorite places to shop in the Sawtelle area.

I love shopping here for Japanese snacks. They have a great selection of snacks and it was one of the first stores that sold Green Tea flavored Kit Kat's.

From time to time, they serve Japanese street food in front of the store.

I just love the great selection of authentic Japanese foods and vegetables. The various ingredients to make home made soups are what you see and taste in a fancy restaurant. The only thing I see missing is a variety of seafood meat produce. To me this essential to any Japanese Grocery. Overall this is the place to get a variety of Japanese foods!

Even though the store is pretty small but it has almost everything I need. I love coming here. There is no better and healthier food than Japanese. Good choice of fresh fish, sushi, tofu, lots of dressing to pick from.

Sometimes the seafood isn't as fresh as I wanted but they have a great selection of Japanese produce (snacks as well) and it is in a good location so I cannot complain.

Love Nijiya Market! I always spend hours here. Always have to have lunch such as a Bento box, Mabo Tofu, Chicken Curry, or one of the various Sushi assortments. I like to buy various snacks such as Seaweed potato chips, or spicy rice crackers. Great selection of fresh vegetables, fresh fish and seafood, and wonderful chocolates and desserts. Love the colorful and playful packaging - always makes for a nice gift. Great prices on Sake. And the clincher is customer service is always friendly!

I love going here after grabbing sushi in Sawtelle. They have a great selection of inexpensive sushi, candies, ramen, rice, and, my favorite, bean cakes. I love mochi (their chocolate ones have delicious pieces of chocolate in the middle) and they have a good selection of Japanese and French-imitation pastries which, like most Asian desserts, are not too sweet. I have never used their parking lot, but if you're in Sawtelle on a weekend get there as early as possible and park in the big free lot that everyone uses just south of the market (the Marshall's/shopping mall lot).

Mmmmm!! A taste of Japan in my old stomping grounds?? Yes please!! Could use a second story though, and the building it's in has one so they have no excuses here! What gives, Nijiya? You use that second story to store drugs/gambling rings? You hiding something?? Don't want me to call the police, eh? I have police friends and they're more than happy to ruin your lives!! Ah I'm just joshing around, Nijiya! Thanks for the tasty grub, couldn't get enough!

Granted that they carry imports and that can hike up the price on some products, but most of the stock here will run you a dollar or two more than your typical grocery market. Other than that they have a great selection of Japanese products. Check out the deli case for a quick lunch or your favorite prepared dish to enjoy at home. It's a huge selection. It's not the best place to do your weekly shopping if you're on a budget, but its perfect for specific ingredients if you're trying to make certain Japanese dishes, or a novel housewarming gift (look in the wine and candy/snack aisle).
