The hotel front desk recommend this restaurant to us. Exceed our expectation! Recommend the glaze duck; the meat is well cooked with Peking-duck-liked sauce. The steak I ordered is also good. I personally like the smash potato here because it has less butter in it. The restaurant is pretty cozy and they set up a fire outdoor so that you can chat and enjoy the starry sky sitting around the fire.

Food was amazing and the restaurant is gorgeous and artsy. They have ping pong and board games outside. Unbeatable ocean view. Burger was amazing, Brussels were so-so but overall food was great and ambiance was incredible.

Very good place for a nice drink and snacks/ meal. Not just for food, visit this place for some stunning views of big sur. The ambiance, atmosphere is very good. Enough parking. A small climb of 15-20 steps to reach the restaurant. They even have games to play and relax( table tennis is my favorite).

It's a must visit place if you are going to Big Sur or passing through, like us. It has the best view of the Pacific Coast. It's so serene. They have a great selection of wines. The food was delicious, although on an expensive side. The servers were very polite.

Great spot in glorious Big Sur. Well organized and clean. Food by itself was overpriced, and not that great. But keep in mind you’re paying to be there, for the views, not for the food.

Worth a visit? Yes. But don’t expect a great meal, it’s just okay. It’s decent.

Exceptional location, but disappointing service. The menu selection is below average, plus we were not allowed to have a drink outside of the restaurant area at a desk with the view, because of a reason we were not tell, etc.
Anyway, I have to tell, you must have a dinner/drink there anyway.

A welcome respite on a long drive up the coast. A beautiful location. Food was surprisingly good. Unfortunately, this place has become very crowded, and parking is a challenge. Secondly, the many stairs are a challenge for older or disabled people.

Who would know how the food or drinks were. We waited at the bar for 20 minutes and no one took our order. I was all ready for my $12 glass of wine but to no avail. This is even though the restaurant wasn't that busy due to the bridge being out. We left and walked down the hill to an awesome road aide taco stand. Even the view didn't make it 2 stars, which one couldn't enjoy anyway without being at a select table. Not worth the hike and shuttle by any stretch

Great visit here on 8/11/2017. Enjoyed the Ambrosia burger and the hike to get there. With the bridge out, you need to hike about 1.25 miles and gain about 500 ft elevation to catch a shuttle to the restaurant. Enjoyed the short wait to get seated (that's over after the bridge is back in October). Thanks to the crew for keeping it open. Go there and support them during this challenging time.

Nepenthe is truly amazing! Despite the road being closed coming from Carmel, we hiked up the new path at the park, and were welcomed by the awesome staff.

We were lucky to get an awesome seat along the porch railing with an incredible view of the water. The service was simply the best we have ever experienced.. friendly, timely and made the experience just that much better.

You can ask water for binoculars if the wales are out and about the day you are there!

The garlic/goat cheese appetizer was wonderful as well as the ambrosia burger and HUGE basket of fries!

I can't wait to go back!

If you're looking for a relaxing restaurant with ocean views then Nepenthe is your next stop.

Waiting for a table isn't exactly horrible here because they give you a rock wall full of pillows to sit on. There are heaters onside and a large fireplace on the inside to help keep you warm. If you don't want to wait have a look at the gifts next door.

The walk around Nepenthe should also relax you with water fountains and ocean views.

Magical. I've been coming here since high school in 1984 and each time I'm here it always feels like I'm coming home. Absolutely serene.

Pro tip: Ambrosia burger and a glass of Chardonnay and sit back and enjoy the view

The food is negligible because the views are the main attraction. Absolutely breathtaking. Easily one of the prettiest, quirkiest places in California. Surprisingly affordable and with a bohemian history full of luminaries. Will definitely be back.

Delicious steak dinners but quite expensive. Everything tastes so good because it is cooked dripping with butter. Many come with mashed potatoes and a spinach souffle side dish, both very tasty. This is a nice place to come for a special occasion, but neither your budget nor your cholesterol level could take coming more frequently.
