I really enjoyed this because I am not from the area, so learning about the Mississippi River and all of the wildlife was so interesting. I loved to see real animals. I also was able to pet the stingrays, which is something you have to pay extra for at other museums and zoos. Overall, the experience was great and something fun to do if you have a few hours to spare.

I have to start by saying that I do not know how Google states that people usually spend 1.5 hours here, or how some people say that they were done by 3 hours. You can spend the whole day here with basic admission if you use the time to read and take the opportunity to look and enjoy the exhibits. Educational places should be used to their fullest, even if you "know everything that they are showing".

The staff was very knowledgeable and friendly. The place is really cozy. I must say that I was impressed. The amount of animals and things to see is much more than I expected. They have a variety of saltwater specimens (octopus, seaturtles, starfish, jellyfish) as well as freshwater (turtles, catfish, snakes). They also have a bald eagle and a red-tailed hawk. We were able to feed the stingrays, which was a very nice experience.

The staff that was working,the day I took my son to visit were outstanding. They were knowledgeable friendly and helpful. I was initially reluctant to make the trip to visit. After being told by multiple people and reading multiple positive reviews. I decided it was worth checking out. I'm glad we did we had a wonderful time. The cost for admission is reasonable as well.

This is a great place for all ages! We enjoyed seeing the museum as well as the aquarium. It takes a couple hours to get through but we were glad we went. The only negative thing I will say is that the areas are not all well marked so we had to look a little bit for the second floor activities and exhibits. There is an awesome kids area on the second floor in the entrance building where kids can have interactive play. It has water tables where kids can control the flow of the "river" and water cycle exhibits along with some smaller aquatic life exhibits. Slightly more expensive than I expected but overall it was a great place to visit.

Fun place to visit even in the winter. A lot of hands on and interactive attractions to entertain all ages. Get up close and personal with stingrays and turtles, along with other small fishes and crawfish. Had a great few hours there. Reasonably priced entry gets you into both museum and aquarium as well as a few outside attractions. Feeding stingrays is an extra cost and limited attendance.

The museum is a lot of fun and a great way to get to know the Mississippi river the area. It could take a long time going through it if you plan on stopping and checking everything. Their staff are quite friendly and easy to approach if you have any questions.

The museum gives visitors a unique experience with regards to the wildlife as well as history along the Mississippi River. There's a theater with The Adventures of Lewis and Clark featured now. There's a hands on water works station for kids. You can let the stingrays, watch otters play, see turtles an alligator and all kinds of other fish and river creatires. They have gift shops and a great cafe'.

Museum itself was fascinating and expansive - lots to see and do. It was beautifully crafted and well staged. Only flaw was that for the 4D movie, only 1 person was running the concession stand and handing out 3D glasses, so I waited in line for 17 minutes to get my glasses while waiting for others to get their popcorn and sodas. Would have been much better with 2 separate lines for concessions and glasses.

The National Mississippi River Museum & Aquarium is a must see if you are passing through the area. It is divided into two main buildings, fresh water, and salt water. There are also three other areas to tour, a steam dredging boat, a pioneer homestead, and the old boat shop. It will take a few hours to get through the whole thing, more if you want to check out the theater. If you do go, I strongly recommend checking out the Potosi National Brewery Museum and the Dickeyville Grotto.

Great museum with excellent exhibits. My one and only complaint is that the arrangement is non-directional, and it has no natural flow (funny for a river museum). It made it difficult to be sure you had seen everything, and it was easy to bump into other visitors, as everyone was floating between exhibits however they felt like. However, I would love to bring my kids next time to experience the excellent children's exhibits.

Great place to take the young ones. You can pet sting rays and play in some massive water tables in the building closer to the river and in the one further away you can check out fish, turtles, and even a alligator. They often have programs and special events that are great for the kids too.

Nice museum, a little pricey

A very nice museum and even nicer aquarium. Lots to see and even more to learn. Probably a good 90 minutes of entertainment, but maybe not worth $16/ea.

But don't let the price keep you away.

Our family loves coming here! It is aleays clean and family friendly. We have a yearly membership and it is well worth it! Sometimes we spend an hour sometimes we spend all day just depends on what we want to look at that day! The staff is very knowledgeable and friendly too!
