This was a Gem till it PERMANENTLY CLOSED. The happy hour was GOLD with drinks, quality burgers, Mac and cheese for cheap. Good service as well with a great manager. I hope somehow they bring this place back because it was one of the only places that had quality food for cheap and was open late.
EDIT:
New York pizza has gone downhill so much in the last few years. They've cut menu items down to the point where you can get the same sort of food at any given restaurant in town, and at better prices and better cooked. We've gone from extremely loyal customer to non existent customers as the changes have made this place completely undesirable.
OLD REVIEW:
I have gone to New York Pizza many MANY times in the last couple years and it is ALWAYS worth it. Their food is delicious, of good quality, and inventive. Their drinks are delicious and plentiful. It may not be acceptable price wise if you are looking for cheap, being slightly more expensive than something like Red Robin, but it's also not a cookie cutter place and their happy hour makes it very affordable and comparable to other places I could go for dinner.
I've never had any problems with the service, and found that the servers were very friendly and prompt, showing up right around when I would expect/want/hope they would. I have also never had to wait for a table as they usually have plenty of space, except maybe on their busiest nights.
They are very accommodating of large parties or small. I've gone here for birthday parties and dinner alone and been treated with the same courtesy and speed each time.
Overall one of my favorite restaurants in Bellingham!
Me and a friend went dancing and decided to get some food afterwards. Craving fries, we looked up places that were still open late in the evening and low and behold NYP Bar and Grill was open for more than another hour! So we made our way there. Getting there before 10:50 (advertising on their website and on their front door said they were open till 12) all doors were locked. It seemed that plenty of people were inside, so we knock on the door and the people working behind the bar seemed to actively avoiding any eye contact with us. I called the store, and no one ever picked up. I'm now very annoyed. I work in customer service, and it's very well known that you NEVER lock the doors early. Eventually after knocking on the door some more a waitress gives us the hand across the throat indicator that they were closed. I pointed to the door that read they were open till 12 and she turned the other way to help a customer with his check. After we started heading back to our vehicle she comes out and tells us that the store is under bankruptcy and some days they close at 11. Okay, even if this is true, why wouldn't you place a sign on the door? And if you were now closing at 11, why were the doors locked at 10:50?!
Very disappointing, since again I love the food here. But if this is how customer service is here, then i don't wish to ever come back.
I went to NYP last Sunday evening. Server seemed very overwhelmed with only 4 tables. At first tried to order the pulled pork mac and cheese. Server comes to tell me 15 min later that there is no noodles except spaghetti noodles. I pass and make the decision to try the carmelized onion and sausage pizza. Server comes back another 10 min later to tell me that they are actually out of pizza cheese. (How does a place that has pizza in its name run out of pizza??) So I opt for the clam chowder, which ended up being some kind of microwaved potato and bacon concoction. Pretty terrible experience overall. Would not return or recommend to anybody. Either the cooks were lying to the server or the server was lying to us. Seemed like a clear cut case of not wanting to make a special order when they clearly felt as though they were busy, with 1/10 of the restaurant filled up. If you want more of these reviews, continue to hire young incompetence who don't lie well.
Our family loves NYP in Bellingham. The atmosphere is perfect, the food is outstanding and the service has always been top notch. Being from Canada a trip down to NYP is always anticipated and they never fail to impress. Couldn't hit the Presidents Day specials but we be certain to take advantage of their other specials in the coming weeks. A definite five out of five!
Great pizza! Went for happy hour. (2-6 pm and 9-midnight M-Sa, Sun all day) Good prices during happy hour for all food. They also have daily special pricing too.
Small Pizzas are the perfect size for one hungry adult and you have to order the bottomless fries! Also with a large assortment of special sauces, you'll be happily full!
