My wife and I can't thank Valentina and the staff at Monello's enough for serving such great food and drinks. We had a small get together and everyone had nothing but good things to say. We had a great time. Thanks again!!!

Service is extremely slow. Got up and left after 50+ minutes.. Lucky i don't live in the area, because don't care how good the food is Fake bushes and plastic tables i had to try and not laugh the entire time..

It was one of the best Italian restaurants we dined at in San Diego. Really great options. Think we had risotto made in cheese wheel which was unique and interesting to watch tableside.

Loved the entrees! I had the special which was a ricotta/prosciutto ravioli with a sage butter sauce. My fiancée had the truffle sauce squid ink pasta, which tasted even better than mine! We had the mini calzones for the appetizer which were good but not amazing. Service was VERY attentive with constant water refills. We didn't get dessert but the menu looked delicious. We will definitely come back for one of the cheese wheel pasta or risotto nights.

It's true that this place has the best happy hour, get some free bites with a drink. Also Tuesday/Thursday has fresh pasta presented in a cheese wheel. Wednesday has risotto, I wish I had known ahead of time!

The cheese wheel on Tuesdays and Thursdays is amazing. They cook your pasta (varies by night) in an actual cheese wheel which gives the dish a unique flavor you won't find anywhere else. Amazing.

The best taste of Italy! My boyfriend and I celebrated our anniversary here last night and both agreed we would like to come more regularly. I love how the menu offers both fancy and more causal options- you'll definitely be able to find something you're in the mood for. Last night's favorite was the Monello pizza- what a flavor paradise! We also splurged for some quality wine (we rarely drink and this was excellent). In addition, Paul was a fantastic host and we had multiple servers check on us throughout our meal. This restaurant (and its brother restaurant Bencotto) are really top notch! I can't wait until next time.

I swear, this was the best Italian I've had ever. Granted, I've never been to Italy, but this was a combination of authetic and inventive, and I'm sure that this restaurant would do Italy proud. My friend and I got there for happy hour. Apps with a drink= best.idea.ever. The bartender went above and beyond for me: I am a pescatarian so pork, chicken and beef are out of the question for me, so she went to the kitchen and asked the chef to fix me up three little veggie apps. They were out of this world! I could've eaten those all night and left a happy woman. Anyway, this was followed by pasta and dessert. Let me tell you, the caramello is so rich and so delicious that I wanted to lick the plate. Social etiquette be damned! But sadly, I didn't lick it and I totally regret it because I'm dreaming of that dish now. Bottom line: GO THERE! YOU WILL NOT BE SORRY.

This place gets better every time I go. Our server was awesome & too tempting in his own right. Brunch is definitely a delicious but hearty ordeal; dinner is where they really get creative with the dishes. A must try if you're looking for a new spot on date night

Delightful neighborhood restaurant in the fashionable Little Italy section of San Diego. The ambiance, service, and food were great. Their home made pizza was out of sight. They even gave us free samples of their sweet vermouth since we were first time visitors. We went back the next day it was that good!
