Simple hotel in a great location. Although not located in downtown Santa Cruz, there are dining options within walking distance. Clean and relatively inexpensive.

Have stayed here several times over the last 7 years. Easy in easy out. A remodel of the rooms is very nice. Will stay again for sure.

The woman working the desk could not have been nicer and got the stay off to a good start. The room was nice, with decent shampoo, etc. and the shower was good. For the price it was great, especially if you know what you're going to get when you book one of these older motels.
Like a lot of updated, hip motels, the rooms are just noisy; it's the curse of those old buildings and the motel design, right on the street. We were there on a Saturday night and if some of the guests are a little rambunctious, you're going to hear all of it. In our room the flat screen was in bad condition and the coffee maker didn't work after the first cup. But overall a good deal and a good night's stay.response / report this review -

We were greeted warmly by Rebecca when checking in, and had a great conversation with her about the early years of Santa Cruz. Our room was downstairs in the back, and other than the sound of cars coming around back to park, it was quiet with a very comfortable bed. We sat in the spa on Sunday morning and enjoyed some peaceful relaxation. We didn't eat in the breakfast room so we can't comment on that, but overall, our stay was short but very nice. Close proximity to the UCSC campus and downtown were plusses for us. We'll return!

I highly recommend this place. The prices are already reasonable for California. The rooms clean and nicely decorated. And the owner is an AMAZING" compassionate human being We were there because my little brother had passed away. We didn't know how long we would be there taking care of his affairs. On the back of our door in the room was a sign (guess it was an old sign) that said a different price (much lower than we had already paid) for one week. We noticed it after we had checked in. We went down and inquired about it, and the owner just happened to over hear us and the reason we were there & that we had seen this sign on the back of the door. He went ahead and honored that price!!! They were very personable and caring, they really took extra care, above and beyond!!! We were dealing with an unreasonable crematorium, that was making the loss that much more painful. The hotel allowed us to use their fax "several" times they went over & beyond to make a very difficult time as easy as possible. We later ran into the owner when we were out (Ken Clark) in the community at a neighboring business & he bought us a drink. Can't really say enough good things about the owner and this place in Santa Cruz CA. Sometimes its the little things that matter, but in this case there were also "HUGE" things that really mattered, especially at such a difficult time. Thank you again Ken and staff at "Mission Inn" in Santa Cruz California!!! :-)

Very cute place! Location is great, room I stayed in clean and spacious. Bed comfortable and everything worked. Very friendly staff and yummy bagels, cream cheese, bananas, strawberries, peanut butter and jelly. Great breakfast hours 7 am-11 am. Nice and quite, lots of parking. It's a bonus to have Safeway and Starbucks across the street. Very reasonably priced. Highway 1 just out the door and trails for biking and running. Nice place to stay! See you again and thank you.

Very nicely decorated rooms. Super clean, spacious and quiet. Yummy donut shop across the street! Grocery store and restaurants within walking distance! Close to the boardwalk and others beaches. Would stay here again and again.

The room was really clean, spacious and modern looking. Definitely exceeded my expectations. The staff is friendly and prepared. The hotel is at walking distance from Safeway, gas station, banks and other facilities. It's also at walking distance from the beach. The breakfast is certainly to be improved. Overall, awesome bang for the buck when you pay 100USD a night.

Mission Inn had great service, decent rooms, and a nice environment. The staff was very friendly and when checking in, they gave us an upgrade to a slightly larger room which was available. The room itself was quite nice, although the bathroom was a little dirty and the sheets were quite wrinkled, but it was acceptable for the price. The location is about 5 to 10 minutes from the wharf. From what I've heard from friends who have spent time in Santa Cruz, hotels too close to the wharf tend to be sketchier so this is a nice balance of being close and in a safer feeling area.

Stayed in this hotel recently for one night. It is very clean, tastefully decorated. Very stylish and feels like home. Highly recommended.

Staff was nice. Breakfast was good. Bed seemed good, but wasn't that comfortable to sleep on. Room was good otherwise. Outdoor areas could use some updates.

Room was ok. Our bed was not comfortable, and I ended up waking up every​ couple of hours because of that. Breakfast was fine; pretty normal continental type of foods.

I was impressed with the Mission Inn due to the charming amenities and service. The room remodel feels comfortable and modern. I was delighted by the local candies, quality of in room coffee service and the breakfast was nicer than I had expected. Our room was next to the office and road. Surprisingly it wasn't noisy. The front desk rep asked us at checkout if the noise was bothersome, I felt that was a nice gesture. I was pleasantly surprised and grateful for the secondary breakfast area near the front office. I was able to enjoy the fresh air, read and relax while having coffee and breakfast. I visited the breakfast room, a converted guest room and it wasn't as appealing. It was quite busy, must have been peak time. It was a bit loud and not a lot of room to move around to get sorted. With that said, the second breakfast area with the food and beverage station was ideal. Thank you Mission Inn for your hospitality!
