Good design with attention to detail. Front desk staffs were very accommodating and patient. Pool areas are pretty great, with jacuzzi, canopies, and fire pits all around the same place. Rooms weren't overwhelming, but does has large TV. Beds were pretty uncomfortable, old style cheap spring beds. This is the reason for -1 star. Hardwares weren't all new, but looks modern. First floor rooms gets a small patio in front of the room,nice if you get a corner room where guest traffic weren't crazy.

Beautiful hotel, friendly staff and great location. Have stayed here multiple times and hosted hosted a party here in the banquet room. The bar and restaurant are good. Try the burger.

Clean, quiet, updated. I'm not a fan of exterior entrances to rooms but it worked and was still quiet. Good restaurant, only downside was breakfast doesn't start until 7am. Short walk to downtown with lots to do.

Rooms were spacious. Nice staff. Didn't try the pool, but looked nice if it were a warm day. Close to downtown but somewhat of a walk to the beach and boardwalk.

We checked in at 1am. When we used the shower, there was two inches of standing water before the water even got hot. Clearly, the shower was not draining. IF, and I mean IF, the maid did their job cleaning the shower, they would have known it didn't drain, and contacted maintenance, to correct the problem. One has to wonder, if they obviously didn't clean the shower, did they change the sheets, or did we sleep with whoever slept in the bed before us? This is totally unacceptable for a hotel, and especially one associated with Marriott!

Everything was very clean and nice and the hotel is very stylish. Awesome huge eucalyptus tree front desk, pool was nice. There were a few small issues in the room but nothing too major: toilet didn't work until my dad fixed it (easily). Lights were hard to figure out and kind of weird, shower curtain rod was not attached properly and made the shower kind of annoying but the room was pretty nice and fancy and clean. I was kind of surprised there were issues with it.

Very pleasant place to stay or visit. Easy walk to the world famous boardwalk or downtown. Several exotic restaurants with in walking distance as well. But, I don't suggest walking around late at night, You may see a more colorful side Santa Cruz than you intended

The number of times I've stayed at Hotel Paradox is now well above double digits, and I continue to hold this "boutique" hotel in high regard (air quotes because Paradox is technically a Marriott-owned hotel). The front desk/housekeeping, accommodations/facilities, restaurant, and overall ambiance are all excellent.
Special shout out to Bernadette, one of the many friendly and helpful front-desk staff. During one of my stays, I was that one guest you know, the difficult one, with all the "special" accommodation requests. Regardless, Bernadette handled my requests with aplomb and grace. I would not have been so hospitable if I had been in her situation. But then again, that's consistently what you will get when you stay at Hotel Paradox: great customer service.
When I stay at Hotel Paradox, I usually do so with the intent of spending a lot of time at it's outdoor pool/spa/restaurant/bar area. It's relaxing, fun (even has a ping-pong table and corn-hole), and "attractive" (generally speaking, depending on the crowd) all at the same time. Hotel Paradox is also very much in walking distance to Downtown Santa Cruz, so it's easy enough to hit up the pool during the afternoon, then the Santa Cruz nightlife afterward.
If you are not exactly a high-roller, but would like to stay in a trendy, friendly, and well-appointed hotel, this is THE place to reserve in Santa Cruz.response / report this review -

Really nice place. Full accommodations and great atmosphere. Friendly service. We only stayed a night and didn't use the attached restaurant but overall it seemed really new and fancy. A little expensive but we got a coupon through a 3rd party service. Cool place to stay in SC if you want a more luxurious experience. And if you have the money to spend on it.

This is a great boutique hotel, it was a joyful surprise to me and my team. The staff and attention to detail were top-notch, the pool area was a blast, the guest rooms are quiet and well-appointed. Dan the bartender was amazingly skilled and fun. Loved staying here, can't wait to return!

The grounds are clean and very stylish. The rooms were great offering espresso machine, lots of towels and clean mini fridge. The heated salt water pool was fantastic! Everyone that worked there was nice and helpful. The fire pits at night at the pool made the experienced so awesome and relaxing.

Beautiful hotel! The prices are decent as well for the caliber of hotel. It is easy to get to for visitors, being right off of Highway 17, and right up the street from the Boardwalk, and it offers plenty of amenities. I wasn't able to eat at Solaire, the in house restaurant, but I heard a lot of folks really enjoy it - it has good reviews. Looked very fancy & the menu sounded great. I was on site for an event, and the event rooms were lovely - perfect for a big meeting or gathering or conference. And the staff were very helpful! Worth the stay!

Autograph Collection by Marriott never disappoints. Warm ambiance of the lobby and the restaurant/bar area. Large pool. Spacious rooms with modern design and comfortable beds. Illy coffee machine with selection of capsules and bottled water - all free of charge. Good quality toiletries. Shower and bathroom have modern and clean design. Bathrobes are provided. The only downside: parking could become challenging when hotel is at full occupancy. It seems the lot has barely enough parking spots, and some are quite narrow, so could be tough to find a parking spot, and fit into it, later at night.
