Great experience for all ages and Families. New attractions all the time.Very clean and animals well cared for, you can just tell. Nice employees and Volunteers.
We took all these prickly pears, I had growing, to the zoo to donate to the tortoises. The people at the zoo were nice in return and allowed us a free entry. It was right before Halloween, they had the place decorated nicely. We really enjoyed our visit. I just hope the tortoises enjoyed the pears as much as we enjoyed our treat. We truely enjoyed our visit and plan on returning next summer.
A great place for the kids and grown-up to visit. The paths are steep in places but it is a good workout and there are places to rest. I started taking my granddaughter and was amazed at how much the zoo has improved since her dad was a kid. We've really enjoyed the trips there.
Have loved this zoo all my life. Went there this time as part of the co-operative Museum Wander. An amazing three days of reciprocal visitation between most of the museums and the zoo here in town if you had a membership in any of them. What a great time. Hope they do this again!
It's a great zoo for the metropolitan area it serves, but keep in mind, it's a small metropolitan area. That's why it's 4 star, size. They do a great job with what they have, it's always clean, and it has a defense variety of animals. The "Amazonia" building is their pride and joy, and it should be. Looking forward to the prairie dog exhibit!
We love stopping at zoos while traveling. We decided to stop at this zoo mainly because it had a tram ride that our 2 year old would love. When we arrived (9:15am) we were informed that the tram would not be running because they were busy setting up for Boo at the Zoo. By the time we left (around noon) the tram was running which was disappointing that we were told it would not be. I'm 7+ month pregnant and we had our 2 year old with us, the zoo is very hilly and a tram ride would have made it much more enjoyable. The zoo itself is not huge but a good size for the price ($9.50/person), there are extra things you can buy with tokens such as a ride on the carousel and feeding the giraffes. Food prices are a little high ($3 for a hotdog, $7 for just a cheeseburger and $9 if you want fries with that cheeseburger). Overall not bad, I wish I could give half stars as I would rate this a 3.5, employees are friendly.
It's not a huge zoo but it is very nice, clean, and well-maintained. It's also a botanical garden. There are play areas, activties, and shows for kids. We loved feeding the giraffes! A nice place to spend a day with the family.
The Mesker Zoo is by far one of my favorite places. The staff is great, the animals are happy, and the keepers know all about the animals in there charge
The moment that stuck out the most was the giraffe enclosure. As we approached the giraffes we were sure that we were looking at a model giraffe. Turns out one of their females is completely comfortable with hanging out right next to you at the edge of the exhibit. At times it was less than 6 inches from us at it nibbled at the fence posts surrounding its exhibit. It turns out that she is very photogenic. And even a bit goofy!
Small zoo. Good landscaping. Pleasant. Token purchase required for some activities. Wide paths, easy walking. $2 to ride the tram - best used to travel between exhibits as you can't see much from the tram. Friendly employees. Skip the wolf exhibit - mate died and he is not doing well - very sad.
This is a great zoo! My kids enjoyed all of the animals, especially the Rhino. It is laid out well and can be walked through, with small children, in about 2 hours. The prices are fair and reasonable. The employees should smile a little more since they work in such a happy place.
We got a family membership and was a much better deal. After we go two times it will pay for itself. It was going to cost us $40+ for one time or $65 for a family membership. The zoo is very well kept and always growing. My favorite part was Amazonia. Even though it's very warm and humid there are several very neat animals. We will go again.
We have been members of the zoo since I was a child, at least 15 years. I've loved seeing the many wonderful changes that they have made and how they continue to grow. While I understand that the zoo industry is still working to make up for its mistakes, I would love to see further emphasis placed on improving existing exhibits as opposed to bringing in *new* exhibits. We still appreciate Mesker and love bringing my family to make memories there as they grow up, just like my siblings and I did.
This zoo is very clean. Be ready to walk up and down hills. The animals are grouped based on where they are found in the world. There is a new carousel coming soon. The Amazon exhibit is very nice. Before you leave check out the gift shop.
Small zoo, decent prices. We were able to see all exhibits within 4 hours. Brought my five year old daughter and she had a blast feeding the giraffes. Good for a quick day trip.
This zoo is better than it was years ago. The amazon area was very nice. In all honesty I went just to get there 1 year pass. It is good to get in to most every zoo in the country except Indianapolis, 172 in total. For a Family it is $65. Way less expensive than most other zoos. Fort Wayne for example is $115. None the less is it nice to see that they are making improvements.
