After reading such great reviews about McClain Creations, I must admit I had high expectations for my wedding cake and cupcakes. When I met with Heather, I explained that red velvet cake with cream cheese frosting was my fiance's favorite kind of cake, so I was looking forward to surprising him at our wedding. We also discussed the rustic decorations for the wedding, and she said she had all kinds of ideas to make the cupcake presentation fit our motif. Well, we got married last Saturday, and the cake delivered was not what I orderedno cream cheese frosting. The cupcakes were fine, but they were just on a plain white cupcake standso much for Heather's ideas. All in all, it was really disappointing. After moving to Newark earlier this year, I thought we found a unique little bakery for all of our future events. But after our experience, we won't be purchasing anything from them again.

McClains is amazing. They listen to exactly what u want and look at pictures u bring to them to figure out the best option. Prices are very reasonable. And I even had a freak-out and called just to double check on it. And Heather McClain was very reassuring. The cakes taste amazing and the design options are endless. They have an extremely talented decorator

Love their cakes, cupcakes, cinnamon rolls, and pecan rolls. I mean they do not make anything I don't like. They also have coffee. Best bakery! The McClain's are fantastic people. Such a great family.

I can't tell you how many coffee shops I have been to across the country but I can tell you the customer service you receive here is the BEST!!!! The coffee and homemade baked goods wouldn't even have to taste good for you to enjoy stopping in and want to come back, but nope, they're amazing!!! Had a sample of the bread pudding today. BEST I HAVE EVER TASTED!!! This is a hidden gem!!

I really hate to do this because the cakes and cupcakes are delicious, but I was not pleased with how we were treated in regards to the 1st birthday smash cake and cupcakes we ordered. I have also purchased my wedding cake from here, so we thought it would be another great experience. We placed the order around 6 weeks in advance. When I realized no one had called to get specifics about the order, we went into the bakery with pictures and ideas about what we wanted (3 weeks before). I had even printed off the pictures, including one that was a cake from the website that they had already made for another customer. When we went into the shop, we explained our ideas to the employee because the owners were not in. We also said many times, that we are not bakers so we understand if what we want is not possible. The employee told us they would contact us with any questions but advised us through the process and it seemed like everything was fine. We were not contacted until THE DAY BEFORE the party and it was not pleasant. The owner was very rude about what we had asked for, as if we should understand the ins and outs of making a decorated cake. At one point even said, "how could you not know this?" In regards to fondant vs. Buttercream on the smash cake. She eventually admitted to not having enough time to even look at orders until right before they needed to be completed. She belittled us for not knowing how to make this cake, when we admittedly said we did not know what we were doing when we first placed the order. There were many rude comments made by the owner that I will not repeat on here but be advised to call and check on your order beforehand, buy your own cupcake topper so you need them (even if no one told you that you needed to) and get a price quote when you place the order. She was even rude to US about the price that we were willing to pay and we're also never given, kind of questioning if we were willing to pay it.

They made my wedding cake vision come true, it not only looked fantastic but tasted even better! My sister is going to have them make her wedding cake also!! Highly recommend and try those sugar cookie!!
