All different kinds of people come here, so I wouldn't call it a hipster bar. And they offer great seasonal cocktails, wine, and 42 different tapped beers! Bartenders are friendly and the lovely Maria was there. Solid happy hour and djs. A hidden neighborhood gem.
Went because a buddy new the owner. It's the only reason it gets 2 stars. Very nice place. Bartender charged my card without authorization. When I intended to use cash. Then gave me attitude and blamed me for not telling them up front when first starting my tab that I wanted to pay cash when finished. Never will I return.
Great Sunday brunch with a modern twist like sous vide eggs. Quick and kind service. Would recommend!
Pretty solid place here. They have some good craft cocktails and decent seating. I went to the patio for lack of space and then moved outdoors cos the inside was so loud. It's a general bar. I found the bartenders a little short and not really friendly but they gave me what it needed so minus points for that. The bar doesn't have table service so you have to get your drink at the bar and eventually bus yourself. I had the corpse reviver- I liked it since it was fresh and not super bitter. Plus point- they let the people from pleasant house next door serve you so you can have a drink and food together.
I really enjoyed this bar. Such a nice neighborhood/homey feel to it. The bar tenders were all super friendly. They had an extensive craft beer supply. 10/10. Will be back!
Great ambience and so spread out.. from outside it looks super small but as you go in, it has a big seating area both inside and outside, then a separate palace for food and then a yard just to step out for the lung killers.. I am super impressed by Maria's
Hipster central and pretentious whiskey selection. I'm just not that sophisticated or trendy. This is not my scene. If you're an aspiring actor, working in a call center, and dress like a bike messenger, you'll love this place. Everything tastes great, food and drinks. I would not consider it a good value.
Great beer -- try the Marz Splash -- and if for some reason you want even more wow than the regular menu, drop in on a Monday. Come 5 pm today a guest "grill master" was cooking up freshly homemade sausage --- sooo delicious. His associate/girlfriend/chef added mango salsa and yogurt-coconut chutney. A unique taste event. I'm still swooning.
Would have loved to stay to hang out at the bar proper, but my visit was purely to grab a cold brew to bring back to our vacation stop to enjoy with dinner. I was overjoyed to find a couple of coolers filled mostly with beers I'd never even heard of (coming from the East Coast)! Quality selection of local beers with friendly folks in the place. Very good stop!
Super cool spot. Great beers and cocktails. Amazing company! 👻 Get free Lyft ride credit when you use promo INSTA50
Best beer bar on the south side. Selection is deep, especially when you factor in the very expensive but wholly special beer cellar menu. Cocktails are very good as well. Music can get loud, so sit on the patio if that gets to you. Definitely hipster, but plenty of older neighborhood folks as well. Get a Polish from Kimski and drink up.
I've been here a few times and I really like the "hidden away"-ness of the place. There's a store up front when you first walk in and then the bar is behind it. I guess that's not a really big deal but I like the feel of it.
The vibe of the bar is nice, kind of a mix of old-man bar and hipster (maybe leaning more toward the latter). Beer list is pretty good and the place is dimly lit and comfortable.
However, does it really need to be so loud inside? I mean, there's like 15 people inside and the music is blasting so loud I have to scream to the people across the table from me. Maybe I'm the old man but it just seems unnecessary and kind of unfitting to the vibe.
Last time I was there I got to enjoy the back-back bar, where there is outside seating. This time there was super super loud dance music back there that shook the entire place. I kind of don't understand that in the middle of the afternoon on a Sunday. Not exactly what I was looking to get into, but we stayed anyway because, hey, it's a bar and we came to drink.
When I'm down there it's basically the place that I go, but otherwise I'm not really making the trek to Bridgeport from Uptown to go down there.
The outdoor space is awesome! Beautiful renovated deck area that's open year-round. Great beer selection. Partners with MARS brewery and other local breweries for unique selections.
This is hands-down my favorite bar in IL . I love the staff, the cocktails are amazing, and the laid back vibe ensures everyone feels welcome. My favorite times to go after happy hour when it has cleared out a bit and I can sit at the incredibly crafted and restored bar. I recommended giving the bartender your spirit and flavor preferences, and then completely surrendering yourself to their masterful cocktail-making. You won't be disappointed.
