Such a great experience. Lots of fun! Went during winter and the lights were lovely. The carousel is really great with so many neat animals to ride. Each one was different and included a preying mantis, baboons, hog, and other unexpected creatures. We left a few hours after dark and it was insane how many cars were waiting to pull into the zoo. They were waiting a half a mile down the rode in a stand still, and the parking lot was already full. Definetly worth visiting earlier and staying for the lights I would NEVER try and visit after sundown.

Nice well kept zoo, lots of different animals and very helpful guides. Clean and well managed facility. Fewer activities to do in the winter but the summer months are very active. The guides are very friendly and go out of their way to help, and make the visit more memorable. Will be sure to go back again.

Had an excellent time! Hadn't been to the zoo in many years, so wasn't sure what to expect! We went during Halloween, so there were many costumed kiddies, which was delightful. We definitely recommend taking the safari train, otherwise I'm for a lot of walking, but it's worth it, at the end of the day you'll thank yourself!! Haunted hayride was great too because of the awesome woman your guide!! The only downer was there were no elephants nor giraffes.?

Fantastic zoo. It's a large zoo with plenty to see, but that's not to say you can't see it all in a day. They have things for all ages, kids and adults alike. They take very good care of their animals and do well to educate the public on the importance of animal conservation. Brookfield Zoo is a great way to spend the day!

A great place for families and friends to visit. Food is a bit pricey but it's very good. Staff is very friendly and helpful. If you're planning to buy something from here, bring extra money just in case. I would definitely recommend that you visit Great Bear Wilderness. Plus the Dolphin Show. Take the tram if your feet start hurting, the tram will give you a special tour of the zoo and tell you everything about it

Great small sized zoo! It's perfect to picnic at and have a nice walk without spending a bunch of money. Plan to park a decent walking distance from the entrance. Enjoy the walk and the less crowded atmosphere. It makes for a good 3-4 hrs of exploring if you take the time to enjoy the animals.

Brookfield Zoo is no longer the zoo I went to as a child. A matter of fact it's more like botanical gardens than a zoo. The few animals that are there seem depressed and unhappy. Especially the apes. When their exhibit was built years ago it was state of the art but now is outdated. They need to be outside in fresh air and nature. I recently went to the zoo in Indianapolis and it was beautiful, clean and the staff was great. It almost seemed like the animals had smiles on their faces and actually liked where they were. Habitats were clean and there were indoor and outdoor access to large and natural surroundings. And, there was more than one animal in each exhibit. As for elephants there were four of them and even though I don't believe they belong in zoos they didn't look depressed. In conclusion, admission prices are high at $27 and $7 for parking but it is worth it. The money seems to go to the animals and not to landscaping.

My brother, & I, my 2-grown daughter's, and now my 3-young grandchildren all share such a love for Brookfield Zoo.
We have been members for a long time, and have been coming since we ourselves were childrenwith our parents, grandparents, & even great grandparents so very long ago it seems.
I now thoroughly enjoy bringing my 3-grandchildren since they were only a couple months old.
They are now almost 7 yrs.; my grand daughter Lilith, & her brother Connor my grandson; who is almost 5 yrs. old, & their cousin; Matty my grandson who is now 6 1/2 yrs. old
We have the best memories year round

This zoo is a great place to take the family, I have been going here since I was a child. It is very big so set aside the whole day to make it worth your trip and to experience the entire zoo. There are shows and areas that require additional tickets to access. They sell beer and a variety of foods. You can bring your own food and drinks to have a picnic if you prefer, there are tables and grassy areas throughout the park. There are also playgrounds within the park for children to run around and take a break from the sightseeing. All the guests seem very respectful and everyone is there to enjoy time with family and appreciate the beautiful wildlife. If you have time to make regular visits it is worth getting the membership. I had wonderful time exploring the Zoo. It was a nice sunny day in which most of the animals were out but cooling off in the shade. A very large zoo that took me practically all day to see which is a good thing. Staff were very helpful as I looked for certain areas. Food prices are not too high which means affordable for most families. Several shops with a huge selection of stuffed animals for kids. Overall nice place to visit and see some of the world's animals.

We brought our family here and really enjoyed it. The dolphin show was the highlight for us.

We arrived at about the same time as 8 bus loads of students so it was crowed at the entrance but it wasn't bad on in.

No elephant? That was unusual for a zoo. There were many other animals and the grounds were well maintained and attractive. The Andean Condor is an impressive bird! (10' wingspan)
The tropical world is always interesting as well, lots of monkeys swinging around, etc. one monkey had a small baby, pretty cute

Lifelong Brookfield Zoo friend! I grew up going to the Zoo and since starting my own family, we've been members for many years. I still love the zoo and my kids love it too. So many opportunities to learn about nature, animals, science, the environment. We love this place and we are proud to support it.

I have been going to this zoo since I was a kid. Back then, nothing changed and you just did a circuit through the exhibits you liked. Years later, I'm now bringing my kids here and the experience has grown as well!
The focus now seems to be allowing people to get up and personal with our furry and feathery friends! I have always felt it is awesome that they try to teach there public with fun programs where you really don't notice you are learning something until after the fact!
The updated exhibits also put you right in the the mix where you can forget that there is a pane of glass between you and them. In the last visit, I heard the kids actually yell "whoa!" when a pair of seals zoomed by the window, playing underwater!
The expanded programs are always exciting too, with Boo at the Zoo, Holiday Lights, and the Summer Nights! There's always something happening so check out their website for the latest goings-on!

This zoo has been a go to ever since I was kid. A lot of great memories here. Since it's such a large zoo it's probably my favorite between this one and Lincoln Park Zoo. The zoo is great during the holiday season too. The laser light show was cool. Just make sure you go on a day that isn't windy because the smoke they use for the show just blows away. Other than that, this is an awesome place to take your kids or go on your own to learn everything there is to know about the animals you love!

This is a great zoo, but it isn't as special as some people make it sound. The habitats still have a lot of cement, and some of them do not have much visible enrichment. Playgrounds and park like features help make it a varied experience. For such a large campus, I would expect more food options outside the food court. My friend had the taco bowl and it was good. My favorite exhibit is the tropic world, where most of the primates are.
