My wife and I go here to just drink wine and relax. Good live music and good wine. We're also members of the wine club.

I’m disappointed with my experience on the wine safari here at saddle rock. The website described this as an interesting wine tour, when in fact this tour was less about wine and more about Rob Semlar, his wealth, his 9 kids and how lucky we were to be here to see it all. The tour guides, Jessie and Anna, were very nice but knew very little about wine, the region or the wine making process. They did, however, know a lot about where Rob’s wealth came from, his March vacations, and what his 9 children contributed to the farm to make it more lucrative.
Skip the tour - it’s not worth the $65+. I was also promised a cheese plate and got crackers and Cosco style spreads.
The main outdoor area was quite nice though - live music and $35 bottles of wine. That’s the only reason this place gets 2 stars.response / report this review -

The atmosphere is to die for! Beautiful! They have parking with shuttles that are on rotation every 5 to 10 minutes. They also have live entertainment on certain days. I went and country was played. I would give more stars but the service is beyond slow. There are more guys cleaning and being security then there is someone pouring the wine. Pourers are ok. I really miss going to Napa.

Malibu Family Wines is a great place to go to get a little break from Los Angeles. Any time you have family coming to town (who enjoy wine), this is a must stop! It's beautiful! I'll take you through a normal visit for me
They don't serve food here, but they allow you to bring in whatever food you like! If you're traveling here from the 101 and get off at the Kana exit, there is a little plaza on your right with a gas station and other things. There is a convenience store there that has a deli in the back and they make terrific subs!!! Stop here and get a few subs to take with you! Or take whatever you want from home.
Be prepared that they no longer let you park in their lot right next to here. You have to park in a lot down the street and they have a free shuttle that will take you here. While I've always understood why they did this on weekends when it's VERY crowded I was disappointed to learn that they do this ALL the time now even on a random Tuesday evening when we were one of 3 parties in the entire place. One cool thing is if you drive towards the back of the free lot you can see a few zebras, horses and other things (they used to have a camel, but I didn't see it last time I was there).
So make sure you give yourself extra time for the shuttle. Once you get in though the grounds are simple beautiful. It's a great place to drink wine. We used to be members here, and the prices have gone up significantly in the past few years. They have two labels here Semler and Saddle Rock. We're a fan of Semler, but don't care much for Saddle Rock. You can do tastings here that used to be $10, but are now $18. And you can't purchase by the glass here only bottles, which range, but the good ones are around $50. Not every wine even with the Semler label blows me away, but there are some real gems. Explore and do a tasting and get a bottle.
So with all that said, it makes me want to change my rating from 4 stars to 3 BUT then you sit down, drink wine, talk and take in your surroundings and realize that this experience is somewhat unique and you're going to have a hard time finding this anywhere else this close to LA. So it can keep the star. The staff is usually very friendly. This is a wonderful place to go with groups and to have a birthday! Just make sure if you're coming with a large ground on a weekend you get there early! But on a weeknight, you're golden. One more warning they close at 7. That's lame in my opinion as this place is BEAUTIFUL at night but that tends to be what other places do around here too, so maybe it's for legal reasons.

Guy working there was awesome. Wine selection wasn't too great. As far as the reds go, only the 3 most expensive are worth it. The other ones just weren't remotely good. Wasn't busy at all when we went. A cool little hangout place though to kill some time or spend time with good people. Will probably stop by again when I'm in the area.

The movie night with mt girlfriend waa amazing.
The cost of the wine is high and to reserve a table so we didn't have to sit or lay on the ground was extremely high. In my personal opinion I was willing to $140 For such a incredible date with my beautiful and incredible girlfriend.response / report this review -

Expect your Uber driver to get asulted by overzealous security that do the bidding of the owners. Other wineries are a better choice for a peaceful experience including pulling up and leaving. Being a malibu resident it is time to review there special use permit. Stay far away from this place

Many of the wines felt pretty basic, to be honest. BUT the wine specialist, Jake, was obviously a wine enthusiasts and was fun and funny to boot.
However, this is one of the few places around here where you can just stop in and do a tasting without a reservation or party or special event. Good for that purpose, if you want to do a tasting then get a bottle for your party. Pretty expensive for the quality of the wine, though, in my opinion.response / report this review -

I'm not a good vineyard as much as the next guy, but didn't care much for the wines they have at this place. It's way overpriced, particularly if you're going from the LA area. There's loads of bachelorette parties that happen here, and it'd be a great place for wedding related things - but I don't think it's worth the drive for the high price. The live music was great though!

The most overrated place. Parking is tough- if you don't want to pay $14 for valet, you have to park 5 minutes away and take a shuttle.
Once there, it's crowded and the wines are not very good. If you want to go wine tasting, try the Santa Ynez Valley or Temecula. If you want to experience the Santa Monica Mountains, go for a hike nearby!response / report this review -

This was a very nice vineyard. The lady serving the wine tastings was so pleasant and friendly. We bought several bottles of wine here and enjoyed them after we got back home. The sitting area was nice with a very creative touch. We really enjoyed our time here.
