We enjoyed our kayak adventure to Shark Tooth Island with Don and Cooper. Don provided great instructions with how to use the kayaks, stay safe in the water and on the island as well as guiding us in the water. He also was very knowledgeable about fossils and other wildlife and I enjoyed talking to him about some birds in the area since my daughter is into bird watching. Don and Cooper were very helpful in identifying things we found and also helping the kids search for shark teeth. Cooper was so good with my daughter and made her day by playing “the floor is lava” with her on the island. We took shell collecting bags with zippers from amazon which worked great for collecting the shells and also carrying a shovel. The kids (ages 4 and 7) had a great time, and we would recommend this activity with Mahanaim Adventurers to others.

My wife and I took our adult son and his girlfriend on the Eagle Island Tour and all of us had a wonderful time! Our guides, Don and Craig, were both both extremely pleasant and very knowledgeable. We can't wait to paddle with Mahanaim Adventures again!

We kayaked on the Black River for a morning trip. It was a great experience. We had a small group with two guides that knew the river inside and out.
We brought our own kayaks and they couldn’t have been more Like accommodating and helpful. Great trip you won’t be disappointed!response / report this review -

We had a great time this past Tuesday on the Sharks Tooth Island kayaking trip. Our guide, Don, was fantastic. He knew the waters inside and out and he helped those that needed a little assistance along the way. He also was incredibly knowledgeable of the history of the area and how all those sharks teeth ended up where they did. My wife and I found some really cool teeth and we really enjoyed the whole trip. I highly recommend this adventure to any and all levels, although it’s probably more geared toward the beginning kayaker. Thank you Don and Mahanaim Adventures for an overall wonderful day.

It was my first time kayaking yesterday, and Bob took the time to show me how to do it. He was very patient with me and knowledgeable! Once I got the hang of it, I was able to catch up to my husband and the rest of the group. Don and his wife were also very knowledgeable and friendly. I highly recommend kayaking with them, even if you are a beginner like myself! The scenery was beautiful as well!

A fantastic trip for our family of four. Everything was well organized and punctual. Don the owner and our guide was competent and knowledgeable and moreover genuinely excited about what he was doing.. The equipment was in fine shape and the kayaks were ideal for the water we paddled on Holy Shelter Creek. (We paddled two tandems and another group had singles) I'm an experienced paddler and this went exceptionally well. We'll do it again.

Fun and relaxing! My family and I did the Black River/Ivanhoe 1/2 day adventure and we learned so much from Don and had a great time laughing with Cameron the intern. Would definitely recommend it to people of all ages! It was a great day with lots of laughs :)

The owner could care less about his employees that he gets for free from uncw because these poor kids have to get some mandatory hands on experience through uncw and the options are very limited. It's typical for an unpaid internship but I find it completely immoral that the owner would force the unpaid interns to split tips with him when he is making all the profit when his labor is free. All of this is quite suprising when the name of the company means gods campground. I'm pretty sure Jesus wouldn't make a quick buck at the expense of his followers. One would think a Christian company would strive to uphold thenstandards of his teachings but it was quite the opposite In this case. After moving on past that cluster i have been extremely sucessful with other companies that are much more professional exciting and fun to work for. From the equipment, ProFessionalism, to the trips, there are much better options along the coast. Especially in the ocean isle area. Come on down. Dont waste your time on a mediocre trip at best with garbage equipment.

My daughter and I loved our July 21 kayak trip in a tandem kayak. It was jungle hot that day, but there was a cool, gentle breeze on the river. Our guides were very knowledgeable. We hunted for sharks teeth and had a wonderful picnic on a little island. We would definitely go again! Thanks, Mahanaim Adventures, for creating a wonderful mother-daughter memory.

I got to experience the all day, Black River tour where our guide, Don, began by showing us the basics of paddling. Once in the water, it was a leisurely paddle along a slow moving river. After a few miles, we were able to get out and stretch our legs. The next stretch was the most wonderful part. The river narrowed for a while, then we took a different path, through a cypress swamp. We saw a bunch of wildlife and Don educated us along the way about the history of the area. Once out of the swamp, we were able to take another break. The rest of the trip was through a wider and still slow moving river until we reached our exit point. Throughout the tour, Don was very caring and patient with parts of our group. He definitely has a passion for giving these tours!

My family and I had a great time kayaking and exploring shark tooth island with Don and Fred! They took wonderful care of us and made sure that we enjoyed our adventure. I highly recommend them!

Don and his guides do an awesome job. Not only do they know where to go, but they take care of all of the details, allowing me to focus on the complete experience: being on the water, exercise, nature, and quality family time without me having to get up tight on the little things. Thanks Mahanaim Adventures, we will definitely do it again
