I had lunch today and must say that what I received, was tasty, and served with a smile.
The Baked Potato soup was thick, chunky and full of flavor.
Also the beef brisket was of good quality .
A special mention to the hardworking but smiling and caring wait staff .
Result: an extra star 😀

OK’ish food, but they put us in a far corner, wedged between a hard bench and a hard table. The ribs were fine. I will give them another chance soon though, maybe for breakfast this time.
Service was efficient but not memorable.

Good dining experience. The atmosphere is very rural, hometown casual and relaxed, the menu echos the atmosphere nicely. Food is Good, but I wasn't wowed. However, the desert menu DOES offer fresh fruit pies with option to have the pie warmed and served à la mode, and you'd be hard pressed to find better liver and onions anywhere else in Rockford. Service was prompt and good as well, but wasn't really impressed. The retail store connected to the restaurant is adorable. While I wasn't personally moved, this IS my second visit. You need to eat here and form your own opinion: you won't be disappointed.

So, can't say I hated the food because the turkey on the club sandwich was good and the toppings were fresh. The ale mustard was not good in my opinion, happy I got it on the side. The bacon was hard and cold, would have liked it warm. My co-workers got a large amount of fries with their food and I literally got 12 sweet potato fries.

Oh my gosh! This place is absolutely amazing. We stopped here on a trip from PA to MT and I really wish there were some of these on the east coast. Some of the best food we've ever had with nice big servings. It was a rustic country feel; reminded me of a much improved upon Cracker Barrel. I had the roasted stuffed Iowa chop and could eat that every day - delicious! If I'm ever in the area again, I know where I'm heading for dinner.

Excellent service and great food. Parking lot is kinda funky, but has plenty of room. Didn't check out the store, but it looked neat. Ordered chicken breast with wild rice and broccoli, and was perfectly cooked. Meal served with a roll, spice cake, and your choice of couple other sides. Portion sizes are just right. You will not be disappointed.

I'm 63 and was there with my Nephew, his darling wife who are both in their early 30's and their children 6 and 8. I'm giving you our ages because I think it says quite a bit about a place that can satisfy 3 generations all at the same time. Everyone enjoyed their lunch. The only thing that I didn't like was there was a fly buzzing around our table as soon as the food came.

When in Rockford I invariably eat at the Machine Shed at least once. The place has displays along the lines of Cracker Barrel but farm-centric, and advertises that it was started to serve farmers. The food is what you might expect from such a place, comparing rather favorably to Bob Evans. For those who like blueberry pancakes, the ones served here have plump fresh berries in the batter rather than the typical mushy flattened things you find elsewhere. The deco and food make this a nice place to eat.

Machine shed just catered my son's wedding and we couldn't be happier! The bride and groom wanted a taco bar and the shed hadn't done one before but were very excited to do it. And they nailed it!! Everything was delicious and their servers were so friendly!! Highly recommended!!

I think the chain used to be better. It's still pretty good food, a little spendy tho. I like breakfast best. And always get a giant cinnamon roll to take home!

This is the place to go for big family meals. Serving portions are large enough that we take left overs home and have another meal the next day. They serve more traditional meats: steaks, chops, chicken and salmon. Casual atmosphere with a large gift shop. We often have to wait, but the dining area is big enough that the turnover seems quick and the wait is minimal.

This was our first time here for breakfast and I was very disappointed. We frequent here for dinner, however this rating is for our breakfast experience. Any other time I would rate five stars but The experience this morning leaves a lot to be desired. The service was very slow. We spent more time trying to get attention of waitresses to serve us than we did eating nothing at all. We waited 1 1/2 hours and still NO food!! Prior to that we watched 4 tables leave before we left. The manager told us they take orders as they come however, the table next to us came much later than we did and they got their food. Then another group of people came in and no sooner than they ordered a few minutes later they were getting their "lunch" order! It is more disappointing due to the fact we had family here from out of state and were unable to enjoy and experience what should have been a pleasant breakfast.

Our waitress was pleasant and attentive enough. Our first visit was for breakfast, perhaps their lunch and dinner is better!? My breakfast came with ham, sausage and baconwho would expect a kielbasa type of sausage for breakfast?!!! The ham had the consistency of the kind that comes from a can. The bacon had good flavor but was pretty fatty. The Mr ordered corned beef hash CRISPYIt looked wretched and it was only crisp on one part and the rest looked really wet and dense. He is NOT a picky eater but we are in agreement that we will NEVER go there for breakfast again!

The ALYCE fried cod looked like fish sticks when it came out but it tasted really good
It was crunchy on the outside and hot and flakey on the inside. The fried pork tenderloin sandwich would have embarrassed Iowa it was so small. I asked the waiter what happened to the other half. I used to get this all the time and had to take most of it home it was so big. It tasted good but at almost $11.00 it shouldn't have been so small. Everything else, sides of Cole slaw, cottage cheese, rolls, sweet bread and carrots were good. The waiter gave my husband's plate to my girlfriend so she gave it to me. When I gave it to my husband is spilled the Cole slaw. I asked the waiter for something to clean it up twice and he finally handed me a couple of napkins. He couldn't find a wash cloth and wiped it up himself?
Might have to think twice before going back.

The good news: The bathrooms were clean. The pies were fabulous. The bad news: Despite NOT being busy (only 6 others there), the waitress failed to offer to fill our drinks. Also, portion sizes were smaller than a few years ago for the chicken livers and (very small) mushrooms. About a third less than previous years. The barbequed beef brisket sandwich was actually pot roast and the bun was NOT toasted. It was served dry, not with the sauce stated on the menu. The burnt tips portion was very small for the price, VIRTUALLY ALL of the food was served at room temperature, and the bread basket no longer has whipped cinnamon butter included. To top it off, the string beans must have been cooking all day, they had the consistency of strained baby food. totally limp and mushy. Shame, shame.

Been coming to the restaurant since it opened. A family favorite and will need for years to come. If you are looking for homemade farm cooking this is the best place to come. They have a little Shop in the front with cute gifts and decorations for the home. My only wish is for them to get rid of the glaze on the carrots!

Great restaurant to stop for a meal whether you're a local or on the road traveling. It's close to the highway and has excellent service. Has sort of a cracker barrel feel with a small gift shop as you enter with ample seating in their dining areas. The menu is rather large so it should have something for everyone. The food quality is good. Their pancakes are good but if you're looking for something more crispy and like a griddle pan cake it's not here. But their omelets and French toast are amazing.
