Great Bartender, food, drinks. Perfect Happy Hour offerings and price points.
Now closed. Other Macayo's are still open. Like other chain Mexican restaurants. Food good. Nice outdoor seating. Go over to La Fonda Del Sol just a few blocks south on Shea. Not as fancy but better.
Like the atmosphere inside and outside while dining. Gets a little loud. The margaritas are good and I have several favorites I order.

The food was excellent. Ordered the Fajitas, which can be prepared to order. The service was good. $$ priced well. Average 30$ for a dinner for two.
Wonderful waitress, Heather. Fabulous Shrimp Bosio with grilled veggies. Margarita perfect. Wines have moved up a notch from yesterday.
Went back today, 8/13so sad to hear they are closing. Relocating in Phoenix and then eventually back to the Scottsdale corridor. We had an amazing bartender/waiter. Complicated order for five came out perfectly. Kuddos for so many years of traditional Mexican family food.
Great food, the Baja burro is to die for. Waiter seemed to be in a bad mood but kept up somewhat on our water. Waited a while for our food although there was a full bus of travelers here so we let that slide a bit. Will come back though cause it was great food.
I grew up on Moody's Mexican food. It's old style Arizona dining. Now however, the next generation has taken over and is changing the brand. If it's not broke, don't fix it. If you feel the need to change the menu to have Nuevo Cuisine then you should great a new brand and market it as such. Not change the formula that has worked for over 60 years. Woody and Vicki are probably turning over in there graves. I realize you can still get some of the old favorites, if you ask, but you have to ask.
Great food and atmosphere! The patio's are especially nice at night time with the music and lights! Ask for the South Patio and sit next to the waterfall, very peaceful! Service is great as well, reservations are recommended but not necessary.

We had a good experience and the food was good overall. I had the carnitas and it was a nice blend. Big enough I couldnt finish. The service was pretty good. The only reason I took away a start was the fact that we had reservations for a table of nine. We arrived right on time (5pm not busy) and it took them another 12 minutes to set the table for us. I was ready to call for the manager before they finally sat us.
Two stars cause our server was friendly and attentive. Took my dad here for lunch today. We asked to be seated out on the patio but ended up going inside. Was not aware or told smoking was allow out on the patio. Not even sure it's at least 20 feet away from the door. And more thing that's net picking,..they don't green onions because of a green onions scare a long time ago.
Phoenix can be a tough place to compete in the Mexican food space, however the food here was decent. It was the service that was outstanding. Our server was attentive without being overbearing, never let our drinks run out, knew her menu from cover-to-cover, and was just very pleasant to chat with. This place is worth a visit especially if you are new to Mexican cuisine.
