I used to love this theater, but now they have taken on the responsibility to parent my kids, which is going too far! I took two 16 year old boys to see a rated R movie. Not only would they not let them buy a ticket, they wouldn't let me as a parent buy them a ticket unless I actually went in with them! I did not need to go into the theater with these boys. They are adults in 18 months, and how are we to prepare kids for adulthood if theaters are making decisions for OUR kids. I know what my kids can handle and can't. I am done with MJR theaters, we will watch movies at home through subscriptions or in theaters who don't overstep their bounds and make decisions for my kids that only I shoild be making. They will go out of business with these type of policies.
My fiance and I LOVE MJR. It just sucks that we live at 22 and Gratiot and have to go to the MJR at Partridge Creek because the Chesterfield theater is ALWAYS like a sauna when you go in there. I'm someone that is usually cold, but I sweat to death in their theaters. It's horrible. You notice the difference as soon as you walk into a theater from the hall way. Why make improvements like adding recliners when you either have the heat on full blast or your A.C. is broken?
They have the reclining seats, a bar out front if you need one, clean bathrooms, 16 theaters and the people that work behind the counter or pretty efficient. They also have kiosk to print tickets to save you some time. Also MJR has a bonus card that pays fairly quickly money back
Theatre is good. Would be 4 star if they added a family restroom. Hard for a father to take his daughter to the movies and have to take her in the men's room. Not a deal breaker, but would be nice to have.
This place is just excellent, and continues to innovate, striving to get even better. The big comfy reclining seats are awesome, and the fact that we can have a drink at the in house bar before we go to the show is a bonus. Service personnel here are consistently helpful and friendly. This five star rating has been earned many times over.
Clean, nice staff, free popcorn Tuesday's with flavored popcorn toppings free. Kiosk not easy to use lines long, 15 minutes to get tickets.
I am a rewards member at MJR and ordering tickets from my phone is quick and easy. Once we get to the theater, getting our tickets is also quick and easy using the app. I would have given them 5 stars, but unfortunately one of the recliner seats did not work and my husband could not put up the foot rest. Fortunately, no one bought a ticket for the seat on the other side of me so he used that recliner. It would be helpful for the theater to make sure all seats are in good working condition before selling tickets for the seats. I have never seen anyone come into a theater with reclining seats and not put up the foot rest.
Never again. Denied my ticket at the gate for no reason because the one we printed wasn't valid representation. Asked for a manager but the ticket guy, more like ticket child, would not leave his post. I keep giving this theater second chances, it's already bad enough I can barely hear any of the movies I go see because of the obnoxious audience members, but never again will I bother. I can just as easily drive to Partridge Creek with better seats and more to do before and after the show at my disposal.
While we have been customers at this theatre for years and have been pleased with it you this point. I can't say that anymore, every time we have taken our two year old it has been free if she did not have her own seat. Suddenly this morning I'm informed that's not their policy which is either a lie or every other theater employee has been wrong. Tickets are already overpriced with no difference between a child and adult ticket. To charge a toddler full price is ludicrous. We will not be going to this theatre much if at all now that we have to pay full price for another ticket for a two year old.
Nice and clean theater. Wasn't a fan of the bag they gave me to split our popcorn, just a regular brown baggie Butter leaked everywhere.
The Chesterfield MJR is now a terrific theater in my view surpassing Emagine as THE movie theater experience. The ticket kiosks are very efficient, and the recliner seats are amazingly comfortable (WHERE can I buy a set of these?!?). I don't mind at all paying the extra premium that came with the upgraded theaters well worth the extra dollar or two. venue.
As someone who has lived in major metropolitan area outside Michigan most of my life, I can tell you that you won't find a more up to date, comfortable movie theater. And definitely not with the amazing prices mjr offers. I love this theater.
Courteous staff. Really like the reclining seats. One particular dad must have had a long day, because he fell asleep while the kids watched the movie !
Plush, powered recliner, stadium seating with lots of leg room. Advanced seat reservations. Very clean facilities. Fast concessions stand and a bar as well. A+
The leg rest on the new chairs at MJR are more comfortable than the new theater down the road. MJR did a great job remodeling. 👍❤
Really comfortable theater. The new reclining seats are awesome. And the prices for the "matinee", $6.00..What a deal. Mary Carol Reno
Love the Chesterfield MJR! I never need to go to Emagine again! they have the best rewards point system. Over the summer I took my kids to 3 movies and accumulated enough points to receive numerous free bags of popcorn and a free ticket. The staff is very friendly too.
New large seats. Place is always clean. Price of popcorn and pop kills me, bit it's what you expect. Rewards card is great so make sure you sign up
All new lounge chair seating that is reserved for you. Comfy and clean. They also have the small bar up front if you want a relaxing drink.
