I have eaten at Mac And Bob's since they opened. My parents moved while I was in the Army and I got mail at Mac and Bob's from friends who didn't know any other way to find me.(I always stopped in on my weekends home ) The food is always good, the staff is attentive and hard working.i worked at Mac and Bob's and I will still eat there. The kitchen is clean. The only thing that I would change is I would make all of us 35 years younger and do it all again. Mac and Bob's is a Salem institution. You haven't been to Salem if you haven't been there.
Only good to talk about: Went here for lunch and had a great experience. Most food was around the $10-13 range and my Stromboli tasted great. Service was quick and the meal had a great presentation as well as taste. Atmosphere was pleasant and this is a true original restaurant. The menu had a little bit of everything with a wide selection of beer, wine, and the more popular cocktails. Highly recommend eating here.
Ordered chicken fingers and french fries along with happy hour draft. No napkins no silverware did not come back to check table. The bill was 15.00 bucks. Not again!!!!
We stopped by for a bite before the parade. Our bartender was not very attentive. We got our first drinks but it took 20 minutes to get his attention to get a menu to get an appetizer. I have worked restaurant industry and my children have/are all in the business. It should not take that long to get a menu during happy hour. It was another 15 minutes before food arrived. We scrafed it down. He did slightly redeem himself with 2 free coffees to go, so we could go watch my granddaughter in the parade. Better training? Food was good, beverages good, but service could improve.
The place was decently busy on the Tuesday I came in. The beer menu was excellently detailed about all the beers they had (IBUs, origin, type, and even pictures of the labels).
I had the Black and Bleu burger with a Cesar salad. The burger was good but w/o putting any mayo or mustard on it, I thought it was a bit dry just because of the nature of a dry rubbed burger.
I would recommend this place, especially for a medium sized group because of the large booths and the wide-ranging menu so there's something for everybody.
We went here last night after the Virginia Tech game. The food was great and the service was awesome. Would definitely recommend to anyone passing through Salem.
My fiance and I stopped here on a whim while driving through and we were so pleased. The staff is very friendly and attentive. I had the Gyro which was so so good. I recommend getting it with steak fries and putting those into the gyro!
Longtime Salem restaurant that's popular with sports fans and the college crowd. There are some items here that you shouldn't miss! Katie's salad has spinach, walnuts, grapes, assorted berries, and is truly the best salad I've ever had. Another star on the menu is the calzoneit'll be bigger than your dinner plate and fantastic! I've tried other menu items, and they were "good" but these 2 are great.
Very disappointed. I have eaten here in the past and had good experiences but not so today. I ordered the Craig turkey sandwich and it was very dry. I finally asked the waitress for some mayo to fix the problem. Plus the turkey was turkey crumbles and a lot of it had fallen off onto the plate. I ate it with a fork. Waitress was so-so. Could have checked back more often and I found her appearance to be lacking. Shorts, layered shirts and several piercings were inappropriate dress in my opinion for a waitress in a nice restaurant.
Our first time sitting outside, and wow, what a patio! Beautiful night and excellent service. I wanted garlic knots and something else, so the waitress suggested a small Caesar salad with blackened chicken. Not something I'd usually order, but yum! My husband had The Evan, and there was nothing left! We love this neighborhood establishment and hope it sticks around for many years to come.
Good food, affordable relative to the area. Place was packed when I went but there was still parking. I also had a great local beer! Definitely check the place out if you're in the area.
Great food and service. Must be the best restaurant in town. We are traveling through and found really good food. Lots of craft beer but didn't try any of those. The Pacific Cod was delicious.
No reservations, but they were quick to accomodate 7 of us in a large booth near the bar. Fast, friendly service. Good food at reasonable prices. They didn't rush us to leave, either.
Overall great experience. Recommended by Tyler Journell. Plan to visit a few more times before we leave town. Emily was a great waitress for breakfast! So much sausage!!! Love it!
Mac & Bob's is a wonderful local restaurant. The staff and management are very kind, attentive, and friendly. The menu continues to expand and includes brunch, lunch, and dinner, with indoor and outdoor seating. The calzone is probably our favorite item, especially with a side of their special ranch dressing. My husband loves their sandwiches and steak fries, and the Katie Salad is a fresh, healthy option.
