My go to coffee shop. Consistently good. Lots of great tea choices too.

The Lulu Carpenter's coffee shop in downtown Santa Cruz is yet another hipster flavored Starbucks that is too pretentious to admit it. Overpriced coffee (five dollars for a small latte with a shot of caramel), popular with the high school students, latest music hits, Christmassy around Christmas. A small claustrophobic shady backyard, useful in good weather only. A few interesting plaques with the history of the building.

This establishment in incredibly prejudice, i asked to use the bathroom with the intention of buying coffee afterwards. She assumed that i didn't have money and referred me to a "free" bathroom. This is poor business practice. Your customer service and hospitality need major improvement.

Great food, great coffee, great atmosphere. I go to Lulus rather than coffee roasting co or starbucks because the quality and service are noticeably better for roughly the same price. Their high caffeine drinks get the job done better than any other expresso I've tried, too. Going elsewhere just feels like selling myself short.

I love their Ethiopian coffees. They source from several Sidamo collectives. Each is exceptional. Even if you normally enjoy dark roasted coffee, try any of Lulu Carpenter's Ethiopian coffees. Add a little cream and, if you're in public, be careful not to moan too loud. It is that satisfying.

Love it here. Best coffee, foods are great, but s bit pricey, but when you can charge your phone, work on your computer, and occasionally get live music at night, food right there is cool.
Atmosphere, attitudes, and general beingness, great.

Definitely the best espresso in town. Caitlyn is a sweetheart and a bomb barista. Only 4 stars because some of the baristas can't make an iced Americano without melting the cup.

though i am not a fan of the food here, the espresso drinks and coffee are of the best in the Bar Area, in fact, i would make an excuse to drive to Santa Cruz from San Francisco just to have a hemp milk latte or "hempaccino". excellent downtown SC café with indoor and outdoor seating. Vegan options for the drinks including Rice, Soy, Almond, or Hemp milks. The food in not the most vegan friendly as most is sweet and has eggs and dairy, usually they have something vegan, but not always as it is dependent on the daily stock. Finding a seat inside on a cool day can be a challenge once UCSC begins sessions as it becomes full of laptops, and as much i enjoy using mine, i wish they would have a laptop free area as some people with laptops will stay for hours taking up space for two, though usually you can find one in front or in the back outdoor patio area as there tend to not be laptops in these areas due to the lack of plugs and screen glare.

I stop here every time I come over the hill from San Jose, but those morning, I had a particularly present experience not only, did they have the heavenly lavender syrup, but my lavender latte was also garnished with real dried lavender petals. It was so beautiful and tasty

If you want high quality coffee, but don't want to pay an arm and a leg for it *cough* verve *cough*, then Lulu's is absolutely your best bet. Not only is their coffee just as good, their offer pastries and breakfast items and are open well into the night, making it a convenient late night option too. I love their coffee and service and highly recommend to anyone dropping by pacific.

Coffee is good with a nice, relaxing atmosphere. Staff members/baristas are kind and helpful. It's a popular student study spot, so there's often a need for more tables & chairs.

All the coffee beverages I've had here have been excellent, and although the food can be a little pricey, it's quite tasty too. If you're into studying/working at cafes, as I am, here are a few considerations to keep in mind:

    - The wifi is decent, and no longer has a timer related to purchase amount as it used to (a very good change).
    - Outlets are present, but limited. Thankfully, people seated next to them seem willing to let you run your cord under their table (or even over it if need be) pretty consistently.
    - It can get crowded in this place during peak hours, especially on weekends—it is at the top of downtown after all. Be aware of this, especially if you know you're going to need one of those primo outlet-adjacent tables.
    - Many of the smaller tables in this place seem pretty wobbly. Be prepared to bring a shim, or get creative with some napkins.

Most stingy with their WiFi for coffee shops in downtown, but for good reason: it's the perfect studying and relaxing spot. Need to buy something to grab a new password every two hours. Great selection of teas and artisan coffees. Homely and rustic design. A very quaint and vibrant experience.
