Beef, Turkey, macaroni salad, and Mac and cheese were all 5/5 awesome. First time het4 while visiting Dallas and it was awesome. I thought it was a little pricey but it was way worth it! The chicken was about average.
Great set up. You stand in line to order meat by the 1/2 or whole lb. The line moves fairly quickly. This is a great location, a bit on the small side, but is open and roomy. Only hard part was cutting meat with plastic utensils, but will definitely be back. I recommend the ribs and beef brisket!
I was visiting my friend from out of town and wanted to get some BBQ. This place definitely hit the spot with some juicy beef brisket topped with their homemade bbq sauce. You have a choice of meat options (brisket, ribs, chicken, turkey), which is priced at per pound. You can get as little as a slice if you want. In our group, most of us girls got 1/4 pound of brisket with some yummy sides (potato salad was pretty good).
Best BBQ I've had so far. Had the ribs and brisket. Both delicious, and brisket was juicy. Served on butcher paper and no BBQ sauce needed! I went on a Monday at noon. Lines got long around 12:30.
I visited Lockhart for lunch on a Friday. While all of the food appeared to be delicious, all of the flavor components were flat and lackluster at best. I had the 1/2lb of ribs, half chicken, and baked beans. I shared 1/2lb of brisket and potato salad with a friend. Every food item needed salt, all of the smoked meats tasted more like liquid smoke, and the barbecue sauce tasted like ketchup with vinegar and a bit of cayenne. I just think that, for the price, there would have been a great depth of flavor.
Nice place. I really like the casual atmosphere of the place. No table service so if you want that, go somewhere else. You get your meat and fixings at one counter, get your table, then go up to the bar for your drinks. Meat was good but a little bit on the dry side. Good but not great but a good time.
The place is amazing! First off, the cucumber jalapeño margaritas were awesome! We had the turkey (so moist) and the brisket, and it was perfect! The sauce has a kick and the deviled eggs were great! Will definitely be back on my next trip to Dallas!
As soon as you go inside you a real for the restaurant. It has a welcoming feel to it and comforting like a home away from home. The place is nicely decorated to a simple, common theme with pictures of alcoholic drinks that isn't overwhelming. The workers there are very kind and helpful when prompted. The bathroom are clean, though there is only single stalled bathrooms for men and women. The service is quick to get food and the food itself is absolutely amazing. Every single person in my family enjoyed it even the picky little ones. There's no confusion with waiters and waitresses as you pick what types and sauces you want with your meal. You, also, go up yourself to go order your beer so there's no mix up. Overall, I would certainly recommend for singles, couples, and families.
Your employees are extremely rude. Speaking Spanish to each other and blatantly ignoring us while we waited for them to acknowledge us(we were the only people in line), talking on their cellphone and making us wait until the call was over. I am part Spanish, and I understood every word. Half of my brisket was fat and over salted. The margaritas were made with canned pineapple juice and packed with ice. $7 for that? That's not how you make a margarita. Your restaurant is filthy. When was the last time it had a good cleaning? Flies crawling over the pickles and every table we checked had not been wiped down. I rarely leave reviews. But as someone who was in the food business for 15 years AND the wife of a chef, the service we received(or lack thereof) was unacceptable. You have too much competition to let these details sink your business. Get it together!
Great atmosphere! Hard to find a table at points but food was good! A little pricey but not bad. Was $45 for two people. Brisket was out of this world, ham was great and sausage was good. The only issue we had was with one sausage being hard to cut. Other than that everything was great! We will be back for sure!
Great smoked meats. Try the beef shoulder in addition to the brisket. Love how you eat on butcher block paper. Smells great. Good atmosphere.
Had some fine brisket here. Yummy BBQ. I'd avoid the sausage though as it didn't seem to add much to my meal. I would stick to brisket and ribs but would choose brisket over ribs if I had to. Be sure to try the meats with and without the sauce and the pickled condiments. Be prepared for a Smokey smelling environment
Some of the best BBQ in town. The brisket is good, not the best I have tasted but then you have to go to Central TX for the best! The brisket was cooked very well - practically dissolved in your mouth but somehow it was not as flavorful as I expected. Maybe I had high expectations with an establishment with the Lockhart name. The sausages were the best items on the menu. Service was friendly and efficient. Nice folks serving. Love the location in Bishop Arts.
