I am deeply disappointed about my meal from Lightnin' Jack's BBQ today. I ordered a chicken sandwich with fries. I asked the employee (who was most likely the owner), if they could cut my sandwich in half. I was going to the movies next door and opted for their restaurant instead of movie snacks. When I settled into my seat as the film began I opened my box of food ready to eat. My sandwich wasn't cut in half, only a small quarter of it was cut without any chicken on it. As I took a bite of the better portion of the sandwich, the bread was soggy, the chicken was under cooked and was mostly fat instead of meat. The sandwich was just thrown together as if they were too busy to make it edible, although they were NOT busy at all. No line, nobody else ordering or waiting on there meal. Frustrated, I couldn't return the meal without having to walk out of the movie that already started. So, I decided to try and reconstruct the sandwich myself with hopes that the rest of the chicken was going to be more edible. I couldn't make it "sandwich" shaped. It was too soggy and discombobulated. So I tried to eat it piece by piece, only to realize that the entire piece of chicken was fat, tuff and my teath could not even break through it. It was disgusting!!! So I ate a couple of burned fries by masking the little potatoes with ketchup. I gave up and threw it away. It's the second time I've ordered from Lightnin' Jack's. The first time I went there I ordered a turkey burger, but wound up canceling my order after waiting 37 minutes and it wasn't busy that day either. The same employee (likely the owner) was rude and annoyed showing zero customer service. I never should've tried them again after that, but I didn't listen to my gutt instinct!!! Needless to say, I will NEVER EVER go there again. It was a waste of my $14. Yes, $14 for a simple sandwich = ZERO STARS!!!! Oh, I had to click on one star in order to post. Stupid.

Not too many places around that have good beef ribs. Great sweet darker bbq sauce and awsome service.

Beef Ribs are tender and saucy. Sauce is not over powering like some other places.baked beans are very good. I prefer a little sweeter
( personal preference ) but very good. Very good price and very good service. I live, eat and breath BBQ and recommend Lightning Jacks BBQ over most in San Diego. Haven't tried them all yet but this is deffinatly #1 on my list.

I LOVE Lightnin jack's! I'm pretty sure the owner was our cashier and he is always so nice and courteous. He even brings out the food to our tables! I highly recommend this place. Their food is delicious and you definitely get what you pay for.

I LOVED IT!!!! GOT THE MEAT COMBO & LOVED ALL OF IT. ALSO GOT SOME HUSH PUPPIES AND THOSE ARE GREAT, BUT THE SAUCE IT COMES WITH IS BOMB💣!!! MY WIFE WANTED TO DRINK THE BBQ SAUCE, SO WE TOOK SOME HOME WITH US!!!! ALL IN ALL IT WAS A WONDERFUL EXPERIENCE FOR OUR FIRST TIME!!!! WILL BE RETURNING TO EAT THE REST OF THE MENU!!!!

Gotta love Jack's (even though the owner's name is Rick). The people are extremely nice, which is one of the main things I look for in a food joint.

just noticed I never finished this review and these guys definitely deserve it. Food was always scrumptious and the staff was always fabulous. I'm very sad I don't live in San Diego anymore and Jacks is one reason why.
