Although the newest owners were trying to get it back in shape this winter, it's starting to become raggedy again. Bare dirt on most of the range tees. Many dead tee boxes and the greens are starting to get inundated with crabgrass and they don't roll true. Your putt could go straight or bump itself 8 inches off line. No fun to play like that. Such a great layout too so it's hard to see a course that has so much potential lay in waste. Staff is great but way too many better options.
Cindy the Head Pro is awesome!! And the ranger on the course are so friendly . Great course , challenging with incredibly scenic views.
Good course. Well maintained. Pretty playable. Greens a little rough.
Great day of golf. Great course, well maintained. Absolutely no complaints.
An organization I work with had a golf tournament at Legacy, and the staff was absolutely perfect with how they helped us manage the event. The food was great and portioned correctly, and the staff knew how to help us flow properly to raise the money we needed while keeping everyone attentive. For ~65 people, it was a little tight at lunch for the speech portion, but it was a great size for the golfing. I highly recommend this venue if you're looking at it.
Fairways were ok but the traps and greens were in horrific shape. Not sure how this course got into this kind of shape but they have a long way to go to get it back. Price was pretty cheap but that also caters to the riff-raff. Played behind a twosome who were horribly slow and bad. No interest in playing here again.
Very friendly place. I always meet great people there. I love the layout. The greens are bad but improving
THIS IS A JOKE. Legacy is an upscale, 18-hole championship public golf course and unparallelled in comparison to any other course found in Southwest Florida. By offering value added, impeccable levels of service and conditioning, it appeals to traveling golfers and locals alike.
Worse kept course I have ever played for $40. Should have been $12. The course was at one time outstanding. The people that manage/own this facility should be ashamed. OBVIOUSLY ownership does not care as there is no reply to the negative reviews.
Let me say this upfront, this is a fun track to play. That said, the greens are in horrific conditions. Out of the 18 holes, I would say 3 to 4 were in bad condition and the rest were in horrific condition. Understanding they just aerified their greens on the 12th and 13th of this month, I expected the greens to be a bit bumpy. But to my surprised, the greens looked like they were used as a bombing range! I hope they fix them real soon, or my VERY. LARGE group will not be playing there again.
Great golf course. Real test of golf. Bring plenty of balls 5 tough holes after the turn!
Don't throw your club in the water in temper otherwise you'll be up to your neck in water where there are snakes and alligators looking for your putter.
Unfortunate Experience:
I made a tee time via their web-site approximately 2 days in advance. Unfortunately due to weather my flight was delayed over 3 hours. The weather delay was due to thunderstorms over the Sarasota/Bradenton area. I re-booked my tee time verbally by calling the course, now two weeks later I am being charged a no-show fee. I called and communicated my situation directly with the course during the weather but they still see fit to charge me despite the fact I rescheduled for and played the following day.
Course Review:
The course is in less than average condition, the pictures certainly don't reflect the current state of this course. Many of the greens have dead or bare spots, all of the bunkers had collapsed edges DUE TO THE INTENSE RAIN STORM FROM THE DAY BEFORE (see a pattern?). They were fixing the bunkers during our round and by the 18th it did appear that they were mostly back to normal. I would agree with other posts that weeds and crab grass are infesting the fairways and the fringe of the greens. In fact on Hole 1 which is Hole 10 for some reason I hit a wonderful 2nd shot on the green, unfortunately it hit a dirt patch and was 1/2 buried so no roll out. The tee boxes were in the worst condition as it was more dirt than grass. It appears the course/staff is doing the best they can with what little support they have for upkeep, it's a shame because it does have great potential.
Honestly
I would most likely have given a slightly positive review (3 - 3.5 Stars) if it were not for the fact that they are trying to charge me a no-show when I was 35,000 feet in the air circling the airport due to a ground stop in Sarasota.
The course is being overrun with nut/crab grass. They need to rope off sections of the fairways and just off the fairways. Treat those areas and get the grass back and move on to the next. They have weeds growing in the hard pan traps
. Round-up would do the trick. This course use to be a Class A Course. It's been sold a couple of times. Now it's a Class D course. The Layout is good, the course needs a major overhaul. Nothing has really changed since I played there last year. I'll wait another year to see if they actually make improvements.
Nice layout but my cart started dying on me and had to skip last 4 holes. Ran into a foursome and they said it happened to them as well! Went in clubhouse to tell them and no apology came! No compensation or anything! Oh well nice place with not so nice staff
