Best hike and stay on top of a mountain I've ever done!
Enjoyed the hike up and enjoyed the experience. I would recommend someone do 2 nights as opposed to 1, so that someone / groups can fully appreciate the hike, the views, and more. We did the Alum Trail up and it takes around 3 to 5 hours, depending on your breaks, pace, etc. The beds were surprising comfy and the food was pretty good as well. It's a somewhat "off the grid" experience as you have no showers, restrooms are around 50 yards away, and cell connection / electronic usage is very limited. When you arrive to the top around the afternoon, it can be a bummer to have to check out the next morning after breakfast. Making the trip a 2 day experience is much better than the 1 night experience. Your body could use the break from hiking up and down the within such a short time period as well.
It brings in the breeze love fresh air
The view here is absolutely beautiful!! That said, it is also QUITE the hike up. I'd only recommend trying to stay here if you are a serious hiker and have done it before. But it's worth the climb if you're willing to make the trip. Just stunning vistas, and the little lodges are adorable (if a bit sparse). The dining room has some amazing (famous) hot chocolate, and the very top of LeConte (which is still a little bit of a hike away) is a great place for a picnic lunch. Highly highly recommend!
Strenuous climb up the Alum Cave trailhead. The views are great! Usually a few people making the climb even in the off season. There is a lodge you can stay in with reservations, but you must reserve way ahead of time usually.
These cabins are amazing. Only visited for the day, during the off season but still very cool!
Did not stay, but hiked through. This looks like an excellent destination. Amazing views.
