A tour guide walked us through rooms in the mansion. He told stories of Mr. Lanier, a well-to-do banker and financier.
The six bedroom home was furnished as it would have looked like in that time period.
We purchased ten dollar tickets @ the Madison Visitor's Center.

This is a beautiful place with a fascinating history. Our tour guide is obviously very bored with his job because he rushed through the tour and had curt answers to our questions. Other than feeling rushed through the home, it was a nice visit.

A beautiful and well preserved house. The tour guide was knowledgeable and it was an interesting tour. However, it only lasted half an hour - for $9 I would have liked something more. The grounds are free and open.

This place is fantastic. We made our first visit over the weekend and fell in love. The cost is $5 per adult to get in, and its worth the price. You are lead through the home by a tour guide that is knowledgeable about the history of the home and the family that built it. When you walk in the front door its like taking a step back in time. The home is restored like it may have looked in the mid 1800s. We weren't able to see the east wing because they are restoring it, but even not seeing the servants quarters and kitchen it was still amazing. The tour guide walks you through room by room on all 3 floors of the home. There is a basement to the home, and it is opened to the public during certain events mainly during Halloween. When you're in the Madison area this is definitely worth the stop and hour of your time
