I am in a 3 bed, 3 bath apartment. I like the apartment itself, I think it is nice and spacious for 3 people. However, I am not impressed by the
experiences I've had with the management or the repair crew. The process of signing a lease was difficult and emails sent to me were moved to my spam folder because of the poor grammar of my leasing agent. Both times I've needed repairs, once on our faucet which was spewing water everywhere and our dishwasher which wasn't working properly, took over a month for the repair crew to come out to fix. Other than that, the recreational center is nice and there is a bus that takes you to campus that comes about every 20 minutes. Also, rent is cheap compared to other places if that is a major factor for you
Overall, I will not be resigning my lease.
My brother lives there. They had a mice infestation problem since July and the office is not very good at getting it under control. Unreliable maintenance, and unreliable management promises.
In addition, these guys are experts at losing tenants packages. If you live here, expect no package delivery! I can't send my brother who lives there anything unless it is expensive FEDEX with signature delivery option! Even with that, still unreliable!
0-Stars for sure. Beware international students! Launch Living management lied about delivering documents and are now asking me to pay about $900 in fees and repairs. I was never given notice about a move-out packet, and their management never scheduled an inspection before moving out!
So far, I’ve talked to 4 other residents that are in the same situation. Launch is willing to go the extra mile to keep more money from residents because it is not worth the time and effort to prove them wrong.
I’ve lived here for three years, during the residency my car has been vandalized, my apartment broken into, and my clothes damaged from water leaks. There was a drug bust in my building and multiple instances where residents are drunk and vomiting in the hallways.
I’ve tried to explain all of these issues with Launch, but they replied saying that it is out of their control. See the photos!
Stay away from this apartment and their management.
I really wish zero stars could be an option just like other people have said here. There’s a reason why so many people have posted negative comments about this place. Absolutely the worst management in West Lafayette. I urge anybody considering to move here to invest somewhere better. Even if the other place is more expensive in the long run it will be better than Launch. They are extremely unprofessional, the staff at the office has no idea what they are doing or how to deal with customers, and unless you constantly probe them to solve your problems, they absolutely won’t. I NEVER got my key to the recreation room and upon move in management said they’d give it to me by the week. This is just a slight taste of how unprofessional they are. They will even go as far as not notifying if something they owe you hasn’t arrived. They overcharge you to the penny from your deposit and overcharge you if you miss rent by a single day which has no correlation to their style of living, the Apartments are pure awful & overpriced for their price. Move to Waterfront or Avenue Apartments for cheaper and WAY better living conditions. I have lived in cheaper and larger places that return deposits back within 2 weeks, whereas this place takes up to months to give you back your deposit. I cannot emphasize enough to not choose this place to live.
This place is terrible they show you a very clean unit and then when it's time to move in they put you in a dirty unit. When we moved in we cleaned everything from scrubbing the walls, base boards and closet doors to cleaning the the bathroom which was filthy this is just one of the vent covers in the pictures. Also there were dead roaches in the bathroom on top of the clear panels they put in as a drop ceiling which is really light covers. When the lease was up we left the apartment cleaner then what it was when we moved in and still at the end of the lease they are charging me $115.00 for cleaning and $260.00 for painting the whole unit. FYI they automatically charge $32.00 for drip pans on the stove if you don't replace them and $75.00 for carpet cleaning. If you can rent some where else I suggest you do that so you won't end up disputing the charges like I have to. When I called to speak to someone about the charges I received, I was told they are not taking phone calls for complaints or disputes and that I have to type a letter so I will update the post after I receive a response to the disputed charges.
I highly encourage anyone looking to live here to look elsewhere for several reasons. My fridge stopped working in the spring, and it took them two and a half weeks to get it replaced. Living that long without a fridge sucks. The staff is horrible, and you have to follow up several times to get any answers or to ensure things get done. During my move-out, I spent an entire weekend cleaning to avoid any cleaning charges. When I look at my final bill, there is over $600 worth of charges. Save yourself the stress (and many future headaches) and live elsewhere.
Great apartments for college students!! I love everyone in the office, they are also so friendly and fast! On a bus route and a short walk from campus. Great indoor heated pool. Free tanning beds! Basketball and tennis courts.:)
I have been living here for 3 years and the management has changed 3 times. The most recent management (Launch Social Living) do not really care about their residents. The management seems to be always busy or in a "meeting" when there is an issue that I would like to discuss. They always make me to talk the front desk people who are nice, but not knowledgeable about many things. Also, although I turned in my rent renewal application in, they told me in April that they did not receive my application and rented my apartment to someone else to move in at the beginning of August. They told me that the only way for me to stay in the same unit is to sign a new lease and pay the new price of the unit instead of the renewal offer. As I mentioned, I have been living here for 3 years and I was NEVER late on paying my rent and I would expect more appreciation and fairness from the leasing office. These apartments are old and although they are "renovated," the renovations are very superficial and a lot of things, including my refrigerator, are extremely old. Due to my busy schedule this summer, I have decided to sign the "new" lease with the new price, but I am definitely moving out next year and will share this information with everyone who asks me suggestions for places to live. For the prices that they are offering now, it is not really worth to rent at this place. There are other apartment complexes in the area that are closer to campus and could be rented at a similar rate. On a final note, I am also not satisfied with the cleaning of the apartment buildings. This is a pet friendly community and my building is always very dirty because of pets and inside the building smells really bed.
Since living at Launch, I have had an amazing experience. From the friendly staff, great atmosphere, and beautiful views of the river I couldn't think of anyplace better to live while I attend Purdue. There are always community events going on at Launch which really makes you feel like you're part of a family. I also really enjoy the tennis courts and indoor heated pool!
This place deserves negative stores. DO NOT SIGN A LEASE HERE! Believe what you are reading in these reviews. Moved in Fall of 2014 when it was still Williamsburg at the Wabash. Not perfect, but the management seemed to actually try to help. I always got a timely response from the property manager and they made a decent effort to solve issues. Anyway, fast forward a year or so, new management, new front desk workers, new corny name. Their silly attempt at marketing to undergrads. The new management is AWFUL. First off, try to call the leasing office and get a manager on the phone, I guarantee you they will be in a 'meeting' regardless of what time you call. The front desk is staffed by undergrads: all seem to be trained to not connect current residents with managers. Every time I called about a noise complaint or anything, they say "we'll make a note of it". They don't note anything. It's to get residents off the phone! So then I ask to speak to a manager because I've had the same issue with blaring music in my building for months. The kid on the phone says, "why do you wanna talk to a manager? What about? What's your name? Your apartment?" I really had to press him to put me on the phone with a manager. That should NEVER be a problem, and I know the managers tell these kids NOT to bother them with anything. So anyway, he tells me to hold on, relays whatever info to the managers or pretends to, then gets back on and tells me they're in a meeting (which he said the last time i called a few weeks ago). No offer from them to call me back when the meeting is over or anything. That's NOT normal. That's NOT how you run a business. I knew he was lying so I went up there, sure enough, both managers' doors are wide open, no meeting going on apparently or their doors would be closed. I ask the kid at the desk to let me speak to a manager, again, he asks my name and apt number (that way the manager can decide if they feel like being bothered with you or not). He goes into her office, closes the door, is gone for several moments, then comes out and closes the door, I guess to make it seem like she's busy when she's not. Then he asks another manager, who is fixing herself some food if she can meet with me and she says she's booked all day and she can do it tomorrow (mind you, it's noon at that time and they are open til 7pm. So you mean to tell me you can't speak to a resident at any point during that day?? Guarantee those 'meetings' are not with residents with complaints about this raggedy establishment). So I make an appointment to meet with her the next day. Honestly, I don't expect much to come of it because they make it clear, as you can tell from these reviews, that they don't give a crap unless you're about to sign a lease. Residents pay good money, in some cases, too much money, to live here. I shouldn't have to physically walk up to the office just to speak to a manager. We should be treated with courtesy and respect but they treat residents like you work for them or something. That's the biggest con of living here, other cons: Nasty dog owners. Whole courtyard is filled with dog crap because people are disgusting. I walk my dog on the outskirts of the building. Maintenance: Nice guys but will enter your apt (per management orders most likely) with little to no notice sometimes. Utilities: if your unit has baseboard heating, winter electric will be around 200-300/mo just for a one bedroom. Graduating and lease ends this summer, otherwise I would CERTAINLY be moving. I implore you, do not do business with these unprofessional people, they will ignore you and then probably try to screw you over in some manner.
Apartments are straight out of the 1970's and look like they haven't been updated since then. Don't be fooled by claims of recent renovation. Mostly was just upgrades to countertops and paint. Most apartments are nothing like model units or clubhouse would have you expect. Used to be a student community but now mostly low income housing. I do not feel safe living here anymore. There have been many police incidents and high profile arrests. Management recently sent out an email of safety tips and warned people not to walk around the complex alone at night.
I've lived under three different managements in West Lafayette, and this is by far the best. I feel like the apartments are good quality for a fair rate. They are pet friendly, their management staff have always been polite and responsive, and maintenance has been respectful and prompt.
