Absolutely terrible place, after multiple trips and terrible care for my son and I both I will never return. Goshen ER is 110% better than KCH. Save yourself and go to Goshen or Fort Wayne!
After calling our doctor after hours and him ordering test to be done stat at KCH on a Sunday evening, we went to the ER to check in and told them our Dr ordered tests. They REFUSED to accept the orders sent to them and ran my wife through the ER and went through THEIR unorganized mess and then gave my wife a prescription for high blood pressure which she does not have and that CAN'T be given to a breast feeding mother and totally missed and ignored the fact that she had a sever infection! Needless to say our LUTHERAN family doctor was very upset. Phone calls and request for a meeting about this visit has yet to be returned about their incompetent ER staff.
Was very pleased with the staff and care they provided, from the second I walked in until I walked out.
Last trip to the er took forever to get in but besides that I've always had a good experience and they were very accommodating.
I was just there late the night of 7/16 into the morning of 7/17. The nurse, Sarah was fantastic. Except the room she put us in had no bed and no arm with an arm rest. Mamas with babies will appreciate how difficult it was for me to hold a sleeping toddler for hours. Then the DR comes in and treats me like I'm stupid. Her fever was 103.5 AFTER meds and he was sending us home "because we really need to get the script filled". The hospital has no amoxil apparently. I ask if he's serious. He says "we will watch her a little longer, I guess".
So here I am at the ONLY pharmacy that's open and they don't accept my daughter insurance. It's Tricare ( her dad is active duty). So now I'm paying out of pocket. A miserable experience to say the least.
Been to KCH many times, never had a problem, always received good service.
The ER staff literally saved my husband from bleeding to death as a result of an accident at work. Quick, competent, and caring.
They have saved my husband's and my life in the same month. I owe them our lives! Great care!
Slow service and nearly incompetent staff. They nearly killed someone I know through their incompetence.
I don't understand all the bad reviews.I've always had excellent care when I've been in the emergency room. I was taken care of in expedient time. I'm not saying they are perfect.I had one nurse who started asking very personal questions, in front of other people, before I was even put in a room, now that was embarrassing. My parents have spent time in the hospital and I was very pleased with the way they were taken care of.
It is a small town hospital and they will send you to a larger hospital, if need be, ASAP. I've had experience with Scott and White in Texas which is an excellent hospital and I've had experience with Lutheran in Ft. Wayne and I have seen good and bad there.
Pregnancy Care:
I was very leary of going here, just bwcause of what you hear (horror stories) but I am glad I did. The nurses, doctors, and rest of the staff/people who seen me were amazing. I've never had such a better visit to a hospital. For this being my first baby it was the best experience having such an intelligent staff and doctor who can answer any and every question, and always making sure your taken care of. Dr Cook delivered my 8lb 13.4oz baby boy and he was so kind and encouraging the whole process because as any mother knows it isn't easy having a baby. Some go through more pain then others and I think I was one of them. I will recommend this hospital to any pregnant woman looking for a place to deliver.
