It was too cold, wet and snowy to enjoy all the great attractions. 😑 Great concept for a less colder day I could have definitely done without having to see the poor freezing mini horses and camels out there in the elements. Truly saddening.
Put on a really fun and family oriented winter wonderland. Damn is massive and really cool to see up close.
I love this park, especially when it snows and you are up on the top of the dam looking down. It's like a beautiful little winter wonderland. I don't have a photo from the one picturesque snow day I remember - but it's so wonderful you have to go see for yourself. I do however have this beautiful photo from one day when the sun was setting this summer! The stairs are also great for exercise - both sides are pretty steep - and you can find all kinds of people out sitting in the grass, kids playing with their families or biking or roller blading. Plus a snow cone truck comes by sometimes. One of the nicest parks around.
Great pic ops and not too crowded excellent parking. Great playground. Stairs are killer and narrow. They have a beautiful 9/11 memorial worth stopping for. Beautiful water views. Excellent for spending a few hours. Clean bathrooms too!
Great place to take a walk and for kids. Playground for little kids and another for slightly older kids. Walk up and around the damn is well marked
My 2 year old loves the kids playground. We have taken the 3 ways to get up to the dam, the one on the far left is all stairs straight up (not recommended), the middle one is stairs with breaks in between (doable but tiring), and the one at far right is a walk uphill (preferred). If you are with small children or don't like going up stairs uphill, then just walk up instead. Lovely views and very clean overall.
Had a great time at the plaza. It very crowded the day we went. Food trucks and fireworks. Fireworks were extra loud echoing off the dam. Excellent security and police presence for the large crowd. Brought back many memories from when I lived within sight of the dam.
A wonderful place to spend a day.
The event I attended was the African American festival.Vendors for all types of things, including delicious food. Also entertainment through out the day.
The Kensico Dam Park is home to several ethnic festivals during the summer.
Parking is plentiful, security is good and lots of clean well stocked Port a Pottys.
This park is opened all year long.
30 to 40 minutes from the Bronx and I got to enjoy a dam and all its view and beauty. Peaceful, relaxing and a good place to walk off a Angus beef burger. Worth visiting alone, with friends and/ or family. Sunset is beautiful. A Sunday well spent with parking, dog friendly areas. Looks like there's a concession but it was closed today. Path are easy to find and climb. Stairs and brick roads are the options. Workout course, movie under the stars Enjoy!
Great place with lots of parking. Can get crowded on weekends and closes at night. Nice for jogging or pet walking.
wonderful park for its size, the dam is a beautiful piece of stone work. a nice place to visit, but on a nice day all the parking fills quickly. If you want to relax avoid a crowded weekend.
Amazing view of the Dam and lake. you can walk on the dam, but need yo climb quite a bit. remember to bring a strap for your young toddler. also there is playground here. free parking. amazing.
It's a great place for everyone in your family. Kids can play around, dogs can run around, while you go for a jog or cycling. There are stairs up the dam wall, a small yet very scenic wall for fmily and couples.
Kensico Dam and Plaza County Park are a short drive from NYC proper. It's a good place to relax, stroll about and ponder the vista of the lake and surrounding woods. The fall foliage is almost in full color and paints the surrounding landscape vividly. If you into fitness, walking up the stone stairs to the Dam walkway is more than challenging. We saw couples, families, people walking their dogs and workers getting ready for the Xmas holidays. The 9/11 Memorial for the 111 people from Westchester County who perished that day is a great tribute to loved ones and an impressive sculptural piece. Quite worth a trip and look-see. Enjoy!
