Worked on the dealership building remodel, got to know the mechanics a little. Seem to be true professionals. Each one had tens of thousands of dollars invested in tools to do the job right. Level headed, intelligent, a good crew.
Just finished buying a new car there today. I had a Passat in the past and took it to Ken Garff for servicing over the years. Usually they were pretty good, so I figured I'd buy something new from them.
Bought a GTI sport from Bryce. He was very pleasant to work with. For the most part he was really up front and the prices he gave me were exactly what I ended paying once all was said and done. Can't say I've had that experience very often with other dealerships. I was out of there in a couple hours - not bad at all.
Not going to comment on the car. I love it so far, but I haven't even had it for a full day.
They are very upfront with their pricing, which I appreciated. You think that you might be getting a better deal from a different dealer but then they throw a ton of fees at you. With Ken Garff, I was almost surprised that when I tried to haggle a bit, the answer was just "nope, sorry. We don't do that". But in the end they didn't tack on a bunch of extra fees.
To close the deal, they did throw in a few perks for me which was great. I appreciate feeling like I got a good deal (even though who knows if buying a car new is ever a good deal).
Just wanted to try and be as objective as I could with this review. I'm fully aware that sometimes people just have a terrible experience with car salesmen. I've been there, believe me. But I just wanted to give credit this time when it was due.
Lastly, I have a hard time with a lot of these reviews and feel like a lot of them must be fake. 1 star and everything was terrible? If your whole experience with the dealer was complete garbage why did you stay there? Get up and leave.
And P.S., when you get a lemon that is usually the fault of the manufacturer, not the dealer. What determines a dealer's quality is how they handle bad cars, because it's going to happen.
Shane Botelho is really great to deal with. When I had an issue with a service contract he was there to make it right. He is a man of his word who adds integrity to his department. This dealership needs more guys just like Shane! He is an awesome guy who goes above and beyond!
I just want to say a big thanks to all who works at Ken Garff VW. Everyone is so welcoming and friendly. Sergio thank you so much for all your hard work. You went over and beyond. We can't tell you how much that really means to us. We had a great experience there and i would recommend anyone to you guys.
I wrote a poor review for this company a few years ago and they contacted me and made me remove it by holding a refund that was due to me hostage. If you do choose to do business with them, which I highly discourage, please do three things. First, before you sign the final papers CHECK THE LENGTH OF YOUR LOAN. I was quoted an estimate for my monthly payment while working with a salesman who then sent me to the finance department. At that point I was given the official monthly payment which was close to the original quoted price. However, the life of my loan had been nearly doubled! The price was so similar because they had added on an insurance that only makes sense if you are buying a brand new car, and I was buying used. Second, immediately have your car CHECKED BY AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC. I was sold a car that did not pass safety and emissions because the ball joints were bad. My understanding is that it is illegal for a dealer to sell a car that cannot pass safety and emissions. They sold the car to me because it passed S&E with their in-house mechanics, but those mechanics did shoddy work. Everything about my experience was horrid right done to them accusing me of having forged a signature so that they could get out of doing work that they had agreed to do while negotiating the price of the vehicle. Thus, as my third tip, GET EVERYTHING IN A FORMAL CONTRACT. Don't trust anything they say - even if it's written down by hand with their signature on it - get it typed and legally binding.
My salesman's name was Bryce Cook he was absolutely amazing I really feel like he accommodated me in every way possible. there's was few little things that the car need that I want done and he had it taken care of was any hesitation. I will absolutely return to him for all my car buying needs if you want a great car buying experience he is your guy!
UPDATE: As promised I went back and purchased a brand new GTI and I love it! They gave me a great deal and never once did it feel like those other dealers where they're trying to hide ridiculous fees and other numbers in a mountain of paperwork. I worked with Brady again of course, and he was awesome again. He made sure to go through the financial paperwork thoroughly, which some dealers don't do, or they try to skim quickly so you miss things. I had a fantastic experience and will definitely be purchasing future cars from Ken Garff.
Awesome staff. Sales manager and finance manager were both very honest. I searched for a car on truecar and was contacted by Brady Knowles shortly after. He emailed me numbers and let me know I could come by and drive the cars if I wanted to. Brady stayed in constant contact with me until I was ready to go down and take a look, when we got there he wasn't pushy at all, he was incredibly knowledgeable, friendly, and could talk cars.
We spent a few hours there (by our own choice, they even apologized for how long we were there but it wasn't their fault) and he never once got annoyed with working with us, or tried to force us into anything. He was very honest and helpful and talked to us about everything we wanted to know.
Unfortunately I wasn't able to make a deal work at this time, but Brady never got upset he just said he understood and had been in our shoes and was glad to help. I will be buying soon and I'm going back to Ken Garff to buy from Brady.
I write consistent neutral reviews to assure objectivity. With that in mind, I have never had a worse experience on all levels of service, integrity and overall quality. I went to their website directly to book an appointment for my Jetta's 50,000 mile service. I got a specific quote from THEIR DIRECT website. When I called in to inquire about a shuttle service or rental from them, I got not only snarky and very annoyed sounding staff member, but no willingness to help whatsoever considering the service would take three hours. (Not to mention, the first person I spoke with over the phone assured me it would take one to one and a half hour max, later confirmed to be false by the second staff member I spoke with.) He then suggested it was ridiculous for me to expect this, considering my experience at Murdock of Volkswagen was nothing but spectacular, I was surprised. Nevertheless, this wasn't as big of a deal to me as making sure a good service was performed on my car. When I went to ask him if they could price match prices from other Volkswagen Service Centers, he asked me to wait, and then told me that he could take off $100 off my total price. The catch; HE RAISED THE QUOTE I WAS GIVEN BY $100. When I called him out on this, he began to act as if I was the one making a mistake. I don't like it when people give emotional reviews so I took my time to think about this review carefully. AVOID THIS SERVICE CENTER AT ALL COST. THEY PRACTICE TOOLS OF DECEPTION, BAIT AND SWITCH, AND INSULTING TONES.
We came here after first going to Strong Volkswagen in SLC. We were in the market for a new Atlas. The price was significantly better. They did not add in all the extra fees that Strong said were non-negotiable. Once we got there, it was about a 45 minute process, instead of 1 1/2 hours at Strong. We were in and out with our PERFECT new car! It was the best car buying experience we have ever had. Fast and to the point. We didn't have any problems or need service so I can't vouch for that, but the sales dept was great! Devin was our salesman.
The service center has always done an excellent job for me. They give you a video showing you what they looked at with any recommendations. They are not pushy at all about you doing the recommended things unless they are safety issues.
My intention was to buy my wife’s dream car while my wife was at work and surprise her that not going to happen at Ken Garff unless you drive to them because on the internet you get ignored. I started at 8:46 in the morning, by 10:40am I had sent them everything they needed to put together an offer… then the wait started. 6 hours later nothing… at 5:00 after a couple of emails asking what happened I got an apology for forgetting about me but no trade-in price. I just wanted to buy a car and they could not do that…
Another great experience here. Second vehicle I have bought, neither were volkswagens although they are nice. I will not go to any other dealer again. Chad is the best person to work with and sherry does magic with finance! We almost didn't have an approval so I was seconds away from taking my old car home and Chad still treated me Respectfully regardless and they never gave up. They got everything taken care of and I know without a doubt I always get the best deal. I will always wait until they have the vehicle I am searching for and drive across the country to purchase from them. Customer for life!!
Really stress free purchase! Sergio is just really humble and knowledgeable. One of the best salesperson to talk to. Best thing about the whole thing was that One person One hour thing! I hate spending time doing paperwork, but not at a Garff Ease store! Already thinking about coming back and getting one more car for my wife!
