Local deli that's been around for quite sometime. Not bad, the new owners don't do it as well as the previous. I would give it 3 stars but it is near and dear to my heart so it will be 4. A lot of memories here.
Great sandwiches, soups, bottled wine selection and cold beer! Great selection of rare and exotic cheeses too! Gluten free, vegan and vegetarian options. Check it out!
Outstanding authentic Jewish deli in old Germantown of Columbus, Oh. Everything you could wish for in sandwiches, smoked fish, cheeses, in-house baked breads of enormous variety, pastries, soups and two large barrels of unlimited pickles. Above all, Great prices. Inside and outdoor seating. Well worth the time and effort to visit, you won’t be disappointed I assure you!
I was visiting Columbus and ate at Katzinger's three times. Each time I enjoyed delicious sandwiches and deli items that I have not seen outside of NYC. The giant barrels held the best pickles I've had in years! My sandwiches were a little spendy, but they were delicious and I left without room for another bite. The atmosphere is delightful, with all manner of folks talking and interacting happily. The staff is friendly and genuinely seem to enjoy their jobs and their customers. They made me feel so welcome every time I walked in the door. I was visiting Columbus and decided to take a bag of deli treats home. They traveled well and were enjoyed by all. I wish I had brought another several sticky buns, as those are simply out of this world. I should have grabbed some of their fabulous rye bread, too. I will come back any time I am ever in Columbus!
Meat piled more than an inch thick is the central piece of this monster sandwich. Load up some sauerkraut and sauce and top it with a toasted bread of your choice--I chose sourdough over rye. This was well worth the wait in line. Two different pickle barrels are waiting for customers to help themselves. My preference was dill over garlic. I'd also recommend the potato salad. Good stuff.
Whenever I am close to Columbus I stop at Katzinger's. It's a pilgrimage site for me. Wonderful rye bread - we buy a loaf to take home. The sandwiches are large - we split one. Hard to choose a single best sandwich but corned beef or pastrami are always included. Rugelach great for dessert or to take home.
Totally worth the money. You literally could go to 5 attraction in one day and it'd be well worth it. The money you save adds up quickly. Add the hop on hop off pass to get free bus rides to these tourist attractions! GO GO GO
Delicious sandwiches and potato salad. Choose your own whole dill or garlic pickle from the pickle barrel. The New York cheesecake was good. On a Friday evening around 6 to 7 the place was busy but no wait for a table. Seating available inside or out. The cashier was extremely friendly and helpful. She had a fun New York accent that added to the ambiance of an authentic deli experience.
Katzinger's is an excellent Deli. I have been visiting here for over a decade and I was quite surprised to realize today that I had never given a review. Sandwich selection is vast and the quality is superb. Two large barrels of dill and garlic pickles sit near the register and are included with any sandwich order.
As a great added bonus, they have a cheese shop built right in which offers a variety of American and European cheeses to suit all tastes. They are happy to provide you with tastes of any cheeses so that you know what you may like to buy. Fresh loaves of bread are available. Matzo ball soup is yummy as well. Nice staff and service.
The food is fantastic. Come get a quick bite or take home some top notch deli items. Free pickles!
After we saw that an article in Mental Floss proclaimed Katzinger's to be the most delicious Reuben sandwich in the United States, we had to go and try it out.
We were there at lunch time, and it was super busy. The line stretched from the cash register, along the counter and then out to the front door.
There are 10 variations on the Reuben sandwich that are offered on their menu board.
The rye bread was truly remarkable. It had a great caraway taste and was nice and just the right amount of toastedness. The beef was great and everything else blended perfectly.
The place was so busy, I had to eat sitting on the ledge for the front window without a table to eat on.
It's a bit expensive, but the food is fantastic. You really have to come here multiple times to try all the many different gourmet sandwiches. Your really spoiled for choice here. Its got great atmosphere in a more historical part of town.
Very good overpriced Sandwiches. Like they serve in NY Deli's. At Price's higher than NY.
Everything is of very good Quality.
Under new ownership.
Update. 04/21/17 Everything still Perfect with good quality and presentation. But they don't have everything the previous owner had in the market. They did away with most of it.
Great food. I love the wine and cheese tasting events they hold. The team is great at keeping up with the social media to keep you in the know about these things too!
