unfair review - most here are dedicated and good people - but we went on day to adopt a cat sale - waited 2 hours for text for time to come in - messaged back "2" per the text we received to indicate we needed more time to get there so we could leave home an get there - nothing back, messaged 2 several more times on the way there - nothing,.. got there and they said we have to go to the end of the line again and the kitten we were interested in was already adopted now I asked politely about if they got my request to hold our spot as we left home and the clerk at the front was super rude to me after I said we had been waiting for so long and messaged back then asked if she saw we messaged back - she said they don't check and I said it's not my fault that they didn't get the message - she explained that the message service responses are not monitored - well why would they offer it then??? I said it was not my fault - would be happy to get a place in front of the line at least -but she said it was not her fault either and said we have to to to the end again - another 2 hours and it would be closing time before then. Just awful service for people trying to adopt out animals and take care of our furry friends. I expected more - but I guess I will look to supporting other no-kill shelters instead.

Great facility and a credit to Wichita. It would be good to see all animals available for adoption in one place but space is limited and staff is eager to fetch you any choice from their website for a visitation. Prospective pets are in good shape and health and personalities are documented for your perusal. If you want and need an animal in your life you won't go wrong with KHS. But be honest with yourself and your situation. These animals aren't toys, they're future members of your family.

Got a great dog there! They advised that it had heart worms when they got it. They agreed to provide the meds and injections at about half the price of vet.
Our little Jack Russell terrier mix has that all behind him now. He is a very friendly and loyal pet.
People at the center were very friendly and knowledgeable! They made no attempt to hide the fact that he had heart worms, they just explained it to us and offered a solution. Personnel have a high level of integrity!

This is the best Humane Society I have ever been too across five states. Their animals look happy and well taken care of with plenty of space in their homes. The cat houses are spectacular and not just cages. The staff is extremely friendly and helpful. They also let you volunteer here after going through a few classes, which some Humane Societies I've been to do not. It's also clear they care more about the animals finding homes than making money off of them as the prices are extremely fair and you can often take the animal home the same day.

Ricky is the greatest dog ever! He is a five year old 113 lb yellow lab that is being trained to be our service dog. He was only at the HS for three days when we rescued him. He is amazing! We also have four rescue cats. Rescuing is the only way to go. Our Humane Society is the best!!

I met my Reinhardt here, and he is the coolest dog I've ever known. The supply shop has great options and the staff is fairly friendly. The only problem is that I want every dog in there!!

Great place to volunteer where you can see the "thanks" on the face of every animal you interact with. A lot of the people who you interact with in the facility are actually volunteers. If you need a great pet or want to volunteer with your spouse or kids, go check out the Kansas Humane Society!

my moms dog passed away and we used them to cremate him. It was a lot better then I was expecting . Kind to us from the beginning. I would recommend them. quick and easy. compassion for the family and animal. price Is standard. Also had a cat fixed here. no problem and was able to use the sliding scale. not sure they do that still. but no harm to ask.

The facility gets 5 stars. And the care of the animals get 5 stars.. But the fact that there are so many animals that you never get to see except online really bothers me. I think face to face contact is needed. I agree with with another comment there needs to be a huge improvement between the 2 animal control and the Humane Society. I do not think.it is right that unless the Humane Society or rescue groups pick a pet from there..they will be put down.
