Great sushi. The staff was super friendly and able to talk you through and advise on the menu if required. Cocktails are amazing. It was rather busy on a Saturday. I would recommend calling ahead.

Best sushi I have ever had anywhere. I grew up in o.c. California. This place is fantastic, if people hate in it oh well. I still talk to my old lady and reminisce on our date we had there years ago. I was referred by a old oil field buddy there a long time ago. We drove there and had a blast. Great fresh crab. Sushi etc. Good service great sake. No complaints. I have never left a food review anywhere for any reason. But after reading the negative comments I had to speak up. This place is awesome. Wish I could just say it sucks to keep people away and have all this grub to myself, but I won't do them dirty like that. Haters are haters what can u say??? Those people belong at Apple bees not here. Will return anytime I'm in Wichita

The sushi had potential, but honestly was a letdown. The fish seemed dry, and not even soy could help. The third roll we got tasted like pepper jack and fried chicken. Honestly, I would never eat here again.
*Update - one day later and my boyfriend and I are sick with food poisoning. I repeat, I would never even give this place a second chance.response / report this review -

Best sushi in Wichita bar none. Fresh, delicious, with a fantastic smoked salmon roll and of course, a fantastic variety of other rolls. The head chef and owner has been in there every night I've been there. So good, so delicious! A+

You won't find better sushi in town! I love the environment of Kanai, the staff is always so kind no matter how busy they are they work together to take care of you, and I LOVE getting to know the owners each time I go in! I have never had a bad roll and I have tried over half the menu. The Ozeki Saki is excellent and at a very reasonable price. HIGHLY recommended!

Great sushi and great service. I like the variety it gives to the city having more than one sushi place is a big deal to me, because sushi is such an expressive and creative art. So having more than one place gives variety. Great atmosphere as well. I love Kanai

Fish was extremely fresh and meticulously prepared. Restaurant is very cleanly. They pay close attention to detail. Top notch sushi and sashimi. Very happy with the food and experience.

I've gone to Kanai since their opening and cannot say enough about the food or experience at this restaurant. The sushi is amazing and the experience is even better. The staff has always taken care of us when we go. This is easily the best Sushi in Kansas, and most likely they best you can have anywhere in the States.

Not only does Kanai offer the best sushi in the Midwest, but their staff makes us feel welcome and right at home every time we visit (and we certainly visit often). Chef Kanai only offers the most fresh ingredients and does not stray from his very traditional standard of quality and excellence. There is no better food or service in Wichita.

The food is excellent, the service is excellent. Everything is excellent. You would be doing yourself a great disservice not coming here if you're even interested in Sushi.
