Disappointed this time around we trudged through the dangerous icy entrance to get inside, though it had been several days since it had snowed. Once we were inside it took several minutes to be sat at our table, although they were not busy. We were sat at a table with a wonderful view, but with a window that was broken and stuck open with temperatures around 30 degrees outside. We were freezing so we asked to be moved. That was no problem, but then they sat another family there right behind us who also complained. We were brought out 2 small pieces of bread, when we asked for more we were told that they were low on bread so "chef's orders" we couldn't have anymore. No one other than the family mentioned above came in after us at all during our time there.
I ordered chicken and waffles, I got half a waffle and 2 strips. Mine was good, with the exception of the side of brussel sprouts that comes standard, but wasn't nearly enough to fill me up. My husband ordered pork loin. It was not very good considering it costed $23.00 and didn't truly fill him up. We also had ordered an appetizer, crab filled mushrooms, though good, there were few of them. After a nearly $50 bill we left somewhat hungry.
The women's bathroom was out of order, and the men's was not clean nor did the door close and lock. We came here a few years back and my husband gave me an anniversary diamond.we were excited to come back. Needless to say, aside from the view, the best part of our night at the restaurant was our time together.

What a great place. Views are amazing, food is to die for and service was friendly. A hidden gem in the mountains of NC. Don't forget about the bar upstairs. Pool table and a nice selection of regional draft beers.

Been coming here for a couple of years. Something was different this time when we pulled up. First thing we saw was an ashtray full of water and butts near the entrance. There was also a cat hanging out near the entrance. As we went inside, the hostess station was covered in books and paperwork, rather messy looking. We sat down. It was cold and quiet. They used to play light jazz music. It was also empty on a Thursday night dinner, which we thought was odd. We both ordered the filet mignon entree. While it was cooked perfectly (mine being medium), my steak was bland and my wifes had a metal taste to it. The dinner bread was different this time also. It seems they went the cheapo route with the partially raised frozen rolls as opposed to the selection of different bread and breadsticks in years past.
Something changed, not sure if it is management or the owners, but it was a huge disappointment. On a side note- the prices remained the same but the food quality drastically dropped.

I ate there this weekend and loved it. Breakfast and dinner were great. There are classic foods and really gourmet things too. The hotel beside the restaurant is also under new management (the owners of the restaurant!!!), so staying there was great too.

Shrimp and grits were out of this world, and so was the blueberry bread pudding we had for dessert. Fabulous view also. Recommend checking it out - prices not super cheap but very reasonable for quality of food and location.
