This place is run by Chinese people, but I question its authenticity. I got the beef noodles soup and it wasn't very good. It had vegetables it wasn't supposed to be in there. When I came in, there were no Chinese people, which should've been a warning sign. So come here if you prefer non-authentic Chinese. I would say the service was pretty good.

Ordered the chilly chicken lunch special. Its too less quantity of rice in it. The chilly chicken was too sweet. Absolutely hated it! Was so hungry even after the egg drop and roll.
If you are looking for some decent ambience .dont even bother.. the chairs are torn and old. Not maintained at all!response / report this review -

The best restaurant I've found in South Bend, period. The owner has always personally taken my order and does this with everyone. Lunch menu is super affordable and the larger menu is well worth the price. It will set a new standard for Chinese American food for you.

Great lunch. Owner sat down with the group and covered the menu with us. She made custom dishes for a few of the daring. No photos of the food because it was eaten too quickly. I would highly recommend.

Gene is one of the sweetest people you will ever meet. She sits down at your table and makes thoughtful recommendations when you place your order. Her food is excellent and she makes the experience wonderful.

Normally the service is not great but the food quality makes up for it completely. Go there and ask Jean (the owner I assume) for her suggestion. Tell her what you like and she'll prepare something for you that you won't forget!

I have never had a bad meal here! The woman who owns is just incredible! If you can manage to be there when it isn't busy, she will sit at your table and chat with you. The atmosphere is so great. The food is incredible. Everytime.

The food here is very good Chinese food, and the lady that owns the place is a very sweet older lady. When I dined in, I noticed she comes and sits with each table and guides them through the menu according to what they're hungry for, and she's very attentive, making sure you're enjoying your meal. I was recipient of this treatment, too. Great experience, and will come again.

I love this place Jean is great! She is very accommodating with my food allergies. If you're like me and hate having to choose, as her to surprise you. It's especially great with a big group. She finds out what you like and brings out all these awesome dishes that you can share family style.

Most people in the area consider JW Chen's one of, if not, the best Chinese Food restaurant in the area. The food is always wonderful. I would recommend dining-in the first time, so that you can get the full experience. The owner usually takes your order herself, and helps you to find exactly what you're looking for or have a taste for. I have been here many times and will continue to go back.

Great place for Chinese food. They have fast service and great tasting food. Our group ordered a wide variety of food and it was all good. So order anything that sounds good.

What is not to love. The food is wonderful and the service is as good as the food. Jean, the owner takes the time to greet every customer. Every thing is fresh. It is obvious great care and pride is taken with the preparation of every meal. We will be back.

Dined here for a company Christmas gathering and was lovely. The waiter was fantastic, very attentive and kind. The dinner was delicious from all sides of the tableNew York Strip steaks, Rack of Lamb, Deer, among a few of the dinners ordered and everyone was pleased with their meals. I loved my steak and potatoes as well as the appetizers.
