Visited on 12-13, had the bacon kale soup which was way to spicy. But i ate what i could. I then tried my daughters potato chips and they were way to salty, even she said she thought they were from the bottom of the batch.
Please don't over season your food it ruins the taste let us add if we need to.
I will be back, cause I like this place.
Owner/manager is very nice. My friends and I are filming a small movie for school and some of the scenes are at this bar. Very thankful for the opportunity to film there. Food is excellent too.
I don't drink beer, but if you do, they have hundreds and hundreds of choices. Their homemade chips and surf and turf are ridiculously delicious. If you're in the area, stop in, you won't regret it!
Great environment! The food is absolutely exquisite! Every time I go here I feel right at home! I'd like to thank everyone who works at Shallo's for always giving a great experience. Whoever owns this place is a god. Unfortunately some of the management just isn’t up to par with being a part of such a great piece of history.
Wings are awsome but the price listed online said the price was 8 dollars but when I got there they were 12 dollars. While worth the money I probably would not have ordered two portions. Bartender told me the website has been updated since the 90's. Please update you menu.
A great place for dinner or lunch.
We called ahead and the staff were able to sit our group of 8 within minutes of arriving. The place was hopping but the staff was very friendly and very accommodating to a big group with 4 kids.
We tried the fried macaroni which was fried cheesy perfection. The beer selection was excellent, with a ton of options on tap to choose from. The chocolate peanut butter Porter was excellent.
The homemade carribean jerk marinate and buffalo sauces were excellent.
Great food and friendly staff. After picking a beer and realizing I didn't like it. The waitresses helped me find something I did like. Then after my kids knocked it over she got me new on no charger. This was the first time the family and I have been there but it most definitely will not be the last. This place is amazing.
Tasty food and quality. Want beer? Here it is. Anything you can think of. Friendly owners and great staff. A must stop if your in Indianapolis.
Interesting decor. Our server was fairly new, but tried even when it wasn't quite up to par. Onion soup was good, not as great as the reviews I've read. The cheese took on a grainy texture as it cooled. The cod was ok, but grease could've used to be changed. The big brown was the worst I've ever had & I sent it back. The bread was too thick, barely any turkey, no tomato (which I have never encountered when ordering a big brown,) no gravy of any type, & so much cheese it overpowered every other flavor. The server was sweet & pleasant about taking it back & asking what else I would like instead, I went with my second choice of a steak sandwich. The steak sandwich came with a very pleasant au jus & was cooked to order. The only negative to it was the copious amount of lettuce it came with, it was served open which made that easy enough to remedy.
All in all, I doubt I'll ever go back.
Awesome food, phenomenal beer list, cozy atmosphere, and genuinely friendly service. Best chicken wings and fried pickles I've ever had. They also know how to pour a proper Guinness. I'd give 6 stars if I could.
I've been going there for 20 years. Great and unique atmosphere. Their "swamp" dishes are their popular choices and they make their own potato chips. Also, the decor has great back stories. It's difficult for a restaurant in central Indiana to stay in business for as long as they haveso they must be doing something right.
