We come to J Michaels at least once during our Christmas Vacation visit. Tonight we started off with cheese curds, then we had steamed oysters in garlic. Hubby and I both had the fish and chips tonight. The fish was Flounder with a very light breading. Their food is consistently good.

We love J. Michael's. It is not a fancy place which is great because we are fancy people. Food is great, especially their seafood. They have the coldest beer in town, served in an ice cold mug

Excellent food and service. I had the red beans and rice ( could have been a bit thicker but the flavors were good) and my guest had fish and chips that was excellent. I think it was fresh local flounder. Make sure to try the pepper slaw.

Was really excited to try this place, got taken to a table where my boyfriend and I were told they were out of oysters. Not a big deal we understood with the storms and all but proceeded to leave because we came for the oysters and the waitress fired a snarky comment at us telling us "good luck finding anything good" . They may have good food but we will not be back based on that alone. We weren't rude and understood but the comment was not needed. I would have come back another time if not for that.

The best thing about this place is the view. It was interesting, walls and ceiling filled with stuff. Unfortunately I can offer little praise beyond that.

Food was decent at best, the gravy tasted like a TV-dinner. Portion sizes average but the high prices seemed to indicate large portions.

Wait time 20 minutes to be seated, another 15 to be served. Staff was gracious about the wait time, they were swamped. Place was packed for a Monday evening in August.

Atmosphere in two words: loud and drunk. There were balloons scattered about, some diners popped them for laughs. Place seems geared towards large (4 and up) parties coming for drinks and oysters.

Interestingly conservative place. Rifles mounted all over the ceiling, I spotted a Romney/Ryan campaign sticker and some Trump stuff as well. Fox News on all the TVs.

Overall didn't enjoy myself, but others may find it to their liking. I didn't like the food, was put off by the prices and surprisingly small portions, had to speak loudly to be heard. This place is for large groups looking to drink and laugh. Not for less boisterous families, and certainly not for couples.

I am giving this restaurant a 5 star review, because they provided excellent service even when they were not required to by any means. I met up with a friend and we agreed to go out for a sandwich to his favorite place. I am allergic to shellfish and did not think much about it. It wasn't until we were inside that I realized where I was and started to make plans to leave. My allergies are not extreme or anything but I would generally never eat at a seafood place like this just to be careful. After my friend spoke with the owner, the owner insisted we stay and that he would take care of everything. I had a delicious sandwich and no problems. I am not writing this because I in any way recommend visiting this establishment with a shellfish allergy, but because of how the owner and the staff accommodated the situation with respect and integrity. I work in a kitchen as a sous-chef and know that a situation like this can be a pain in the a**, so thank you J. Michael's staff for providing excellent customer service, and not treating me like the idiot I inadvertently was upon showing up.

If there is only 2 people in your party, head to the bar for first come first serve service. Food is delicious. Beats waiting hours at Capt. Anderson's. I had grilled grouper with collards and potatoes. All the food was excellent. Best grouper I've had this far. Restaurant decor is not desirable but fits the scene. Bartenders and servers were working their takes off and doing a great job. We will def be back. Oh..and they made me a perfect wine spritzer. A++

The food tastes good, but the price for the grilled shrimp you would think there would be more on the plate $18 for 10 buttered shrimp with a side salad and a small buttery potatoes. The food was delicious, but for the price thought there would be more More shrimp and more potatoes. Got an extra side of their pepper slaw, it was ok, not the best and in a super small container for $2. I will suggest trying their potatoes though, very good.
We had a large group, stayed late last night, and our waitress was awesome! Wish I could remember her name, want to give her a shout out.

This place was amazing. It gets very busy it seemed so expect a wait. Went here on a recommendation from a local bartender. The food was great, we had a table of appetizers and i sampled most of them. I had the fish and chips for dinner and they were the best i found in panama beach during a week long trip. Staff was friendly and i met the owner who was very nice and informative. Wish i had been able to come twice.

We've been dining here for over eight years. Never found anything bad on the menu. Great owner and staff. Best hamburger's! Ask for Sammi as your waitress and the alligator stories while sitting at the bar.

We take our friends and family here when we come down to the beach. Great authentic place. Fresh seafood always (non-seafood options are available). If you catch it and clean it, they'll cook it for you. It's a bit of a wait at night (super popular with local people), expect between 30 to 45 min. But you can drink beer, wine, etc. while you wait on benches or at tables outside (or you can try to squeeze in at the bar, I prefer a breeze). Absolutely worth the wait!!! Casual interior. Great place to relax, bring your friends and enjoy some really great food. Love, love, love it!
