The food used to be excellent here but unfortunately the meal we had was just not great. Steak was tough. For the prices definetly expected better. We all ordered something different and unfortunately none of the six of us really had a great meal. This used to be our Thanksgiving staple, will definitely go somewhere else next year.

Always a pleasure to dine at j Gilbert's. Great menu. A best steak. Love the pork chop. Excellent appetizers. Great wine and booze list. go for dessert too. Amazing service. It's always a special dining experience.

Nice restaurant. Ordered a pork chop and it tasted good.
Went back there in this evening and had a combo of steak and crab cake. The steak is a little bit tough but it could be I ordered medium. Not their fault. Crab cake was good. I loved the wild mushrooms with truffles.response / report this review -

The food was amazing! We got there about 630 and didn't realize the wait. They told us about an hour+. They overheard us looking for a different place as we are from out of town and was able to get us a table in 15 minutes because it was our first time there. The waitress was amazing as well. The only downside was the rude customers. We were seated in the bar area and they would crowd our table, one even put his drink down!!!! But the place was great.

This is me and my husband's absolute favorite restaurant in Kansas City, period. Ten years of constantly the best food we have had anywhere. The scallops and balsamic reduction will make a believer of anyone. The chocolate velvet cake and special Roasterie blend coffee makes for the best ending for a dinner ever.

Had the most amazing meal here! The ambiance lends to quiet conversations. We began our meal with delightful wedge salads. It was a prefect balance of crisp and creamy. The sommelier recommended a beautiful Merlot to accompany our perfectly cooked steaks. And dessert. Don't skip this part, even if you just get one to share! This was an overall perfect dining experience.

Excellent food with outstanding service. Love the wood fired grill and how it flavors the steak. Also 2 sides included with your steak - great value. Very good prix fixe options too. Can't wait to go back!

Nice atmosphere. Appetizer was good. Dinner ribs were cold. Halibut was dull and greasy. Not sure if we had bad luck tonight. Had gift card and still felt cheated. Would not go back.

The food was really good, but the service was not I guess it's who they serve. They were not friendly from the front door to the servers not friendly at all, it was like they had to warm up to you before they would even start smiling when they greeted you..

Excellent! Steak and seafood are the best. Service is very attentive and professional. Huge wine selection. This is my favorite restaurant.
