All hype. Heard it was supposed to be an awesome coffee shop but unfortunately it’s all hype. We ordered a drip to order coffee and hot chocolate. Coffee was okay but the hot chocolate didn’t live up to the standard - both could have been a lot better. Since it’s a pretty popular spot you are basically over paying for the ambiance and the whole “coffee shop” look and experience to get decent coffee. Wouldn’t recommend this to anyone I know. If you are a tourist and just looking to visit it’s not worth going out of your way to get this coffee.

The coffee is really good but the price is kinda high. A very trendy place

First things first - the coffee is amazing. I always order my beans from here and am a long-time fan. The pastries and service are also very good. That said, this place is too hip for me. I first went to Intelligentsia when I lived in Chicago, at their original location. It was more laid back/less pretentious feeling. That's my problem, of course, so take this review for what it's worth. Regardless, great coffee.

One of the best lattes I've ever had! The espresso beans have a great taste. I would definitely come here again.

    Coffee Mecca

I don't know of a coffee place that feels cooler than this one. It's not my personal favorite because it's more hip than cozy, but still awesome every time.

Coffee beans updated regularly (weekly?). They give you the extra from the brew so it's basically two cups for the price of one, and served on a cute little tray.

Cool, efficient staff. And most importantly, they provide charger batteries (you must have your own cord) in exchange for your ID, so no matter how packed it is you can still charge your phone.

Love Intelligentsia - all of their coffee shops in fact. But Venice must be my favourite. Very airy space with option to sit outside. Try their matcha and/or chai with oat milk! It’s one of my favourite drinks of all time :) love!

Intelligentsia is a very good high end café that cares deeply about their beans, roast, and process. The café has tall ceilings and eclectic indoor and outdoor seating on stools and benches, but hardly any normal tables. It is a good place for people watching, but is not a place for food or light meals.

Great coffee! The Black Cat Espresso beans are delicious and available to purchase. There wasn't much seating, the back has a concrete wall and the one washroom isn't the greatest. However, that being said the quality of the coffee is great in this hole in the wall.

Nice coffee shop on Abbot Kinney. There is an elevated area in the back for you to work. A cool seating area in the front. I drink coffee for the caffeine and I usually take it black. During my visit I tried their cappuccino. It was smooth and foamy.

We went two times and did not have to wait long for our lattes. They are made properly, and we enjoyed them at the counter/seating area. Good place to people watch as well. Definitely a spot I'd frequent if I lived in the area.

Funky café by the guys who know coffee. It's not too expensive for a brew and service is decently fast. The espresso and filter is on point and it's got enough seating via the concrete steps and cushions, though with a lack of tables it creates a more relaxed environment as you sit next to your cuppa and enjoy the company with you

I wouldn't go back. I got to a lot of coffee shops, like a ridiculous amount. To start the prices are pretty damn high for what this place has to offer. Okay ambience, semi friendly workers, and a kinda dirty bathroom. Nothing went wrong per say, but nothing out of the ordinary.

Busy place. Only the "finest" teas and coffee. Can't really call out anything to exotic but the cold brew coffee and iced oolong are great. Bench seating and stadium style views throughout. Warning: lots of trendiness.

I wish I could give this place a better review. I never quite understand why a cafe fails to offer its clientele outlets to charge at and if everything else at Intelligentsia weren't so packed with eye-candy and awesomeness, this place would be a 5 Star hands down. Perhaps this location is too busy to allow people to stay for long and charge their devices. I wouldn't be surprised. A gigantic arching doorway takes Intelligentsia go-ers at this Venice location down a long hallway that is more of an artistic immersion. Wooden boxes and wall sits provide a place for folks to take of their cool and sit outside in the shade among very tall art walls and a bustling crowd. Every time I am here it is full of people to the brim. Although you enter through what feels like the gates of a castle into a playful land of color and life, Intelligentsia's interior resembles much more of a scientific lab like roastery and much less a gated castle. Still, it feels like you walking over a moat as you descend up the slope into the mad coffee brewers hideout. Inside there is a clear-paned structure that looks like it could either be a wing of an old wright brothers air plane or an old garage door and there are pipes, and poles, and amusing facades of metal, iron, and glass work that create a gleaming play on light which can both distract and inspire. Wooden beams, shelving unite, concert bars and metals seats/tables fill up the rest of every corner of this unique coffee spot. Last but not least, the drinks are great. They are tasteful, diverse, and sophisticated. With Intelligentsia it is all about the details.

The coffee is very high quality. What makes this place a great spot though are the friendly staff and neat vibe. The entire space is broken down to enjoy an afternoon here if you want or to dart out to enjoy the day. Overall, it's a creative space with on point coffee.
