I have been to this restaurant twice, both times the view, decor and food were amazing. However, this week for an important anniversary the service for such a wonderful restaurant made the night a horrible experience.
After complaining about the service being rushed, management said that one of the head managing waiters would be placed at our table. When we complained about drinks that were not brought together the head waiter actually argued with us.
We paid for our delicious food and left. Service should be up to par for the cost of this restaurant. Busy is no excuse for bad service.
I hope that if we give this place another shot the service would be the same as the first time we came.response / report this review -

Our son was visiting from out of town and chose his one dinner out with his new bride to be at Il Gabbiano. Sadly, they were very disappointed. Other than the view, nothing else was worth talking about. Practically ignored by their server, food mediocre, and just very disappointing. We feel badly that their hard-earned money (and we know it's not inexpensive there) was spent on such a lackluster experience. Too many good restaurants in Miami to head back here.

I booked a table for my fiancee birthday dinner for two. I COULD NOT BE HAPPIER !! The service was so FABULOUS. They made us feel very special from the first moment to the last. I am very picky and I must say the food was PERFECT. there is just no other way to say it. They even prepared my dish (off the menu) without the slightest hesitation. We will be returning and bringing friends to experience how wonderful this restaurant is.

It was ok. Service was a 4 star. Food was a 2. Its not as expensive as everyone makes it sound and the menu is not that difficult to understand. Very salty and flavorful. I loved it, my wife thought it was over the top. Steak was probably a 2 or 3. Id say stick to Mortons or Chef Adriannes filets.

It was a great experience. The food was delicious, the view was great and the waiters were very attentive. I spoke a few days prior to our reservation and the hostess helped me set up a proposal for my girlfriend. Everything they promised, they delivered. The food is a bit pricey but you get what you pay for. Overall it was a great experience and I plan on going back again.

The views alone are AMAZING. Overall, the ambiance is an eclectic combination of Italian style and refinement. The food was fantastic, with original italian meals that tantalize the tastebuds! I had the chef's special ravioli stuffed with crab which was AMAZING.

Incredible! The best service we have ever had, anywhere! Fantastic menu, and the bartender was friendly and knowledgeable and was able to recommend great drinks for our whole group. And every server had a big smile and was there for whatever you needed! Can't wait to be back in Miami in 2 years to come back!

Great food, great service, lovely views, but very expensive (especially the cocktails - there is no menu for cocktails so you don't know what they are charging you - my husband's single gin and tonic was $18.50). Recommendations off of the menu are the Veal Milanese which is pounded super thin and cooked to perfection, as well as the Langostinos which were the special of the day (at the time of this review it was approx. $75).

Not a big Italian food guy, but one of the best meals ever. The octopus app was one of the best things I have ever eaten. Great experience!!!

Loved it tremendously! Excellent food and service accompanied by a lovely view of the bay. This is one restaurant you can't pass up while in Miami!

Great food and service. Place is quite small on the first floor. Making a reservation is recommended. I had the risotto which is quite rich. Friend ordered the fettuccini which is quite delicious. Definitely will come back again.
